how did you narrow down your dreamies?

I've been going by who's available to move in when I finally have space. So if a villager moves out tomorrow, and I see a dreamie on villager trading plaza then that's who I'm getting!

I made a list and visited some dream towns with them in it, then narrowing down the list. The only problem is that they are mostly the same type, so I have to re-do it xD

If I didn't limit myself, my list would be miles long. Most of mine have specific reasons behind them.

Nibbles because she was in my first ever AC town on the GameCube and I have yet to have her in any later game.
Chester because he shares my birthday (August 6) and I'd like to see that.
Octavian because I've been trying to get him since GC but never been successful.
Kidd because I'm an Undertale fan and he reminds me of Asriel slightly.
Sydney because... I honestly don't know, I just really like the koalas in general.

tbh the first time i picked my dreamies i looked on tier 1 and picked the one that were cute
wait no i still do that now

I looked at a list of names (English and Japanese mostly) and picked villagers that had names that meant something to me. I also tried visiting dream addresses to see them in-game and narrow down the list a little.

I usually go for looks first then personality. I'm really trying to have variety in personality because I like seeing how the villagers interact with each other. Some have really great dialogue and I take screenshots if it's funny. xD
I also don't want to have an end to my dreamies list because I still haven't met everyone I like.

I basically started out completely new. I knew that I was going to try to get Lolly and Scoot, as I came in here, convinced by Vinesauce. Those were two slots taken. The villagers I had over time, I began to consider, based off of how helpful they were. Maelle and Rory were exceptionally helpful with getting my first chunk of change, when I started, coming in to buy stuff from Re-tail that I'd put on sale, giving me functional furniture, and overall helping me settle in.Over time, I began to like my villagers based off of popularity in the general community, their personality, their design style, among other things. Tom quickly became my favorite Cranky, thus far, after he started to suggest Zen PWPs, which I need badly, for my town, but he unfortunately ninja moved on me. Maelle followed the same fate, when I originally was thinking of doing a modern town. Felicity, who is currently an active dreamie, isn't too popular with the community, but I love her design, and she just comes across as, well, a very upbeat, energetic Lolly. Maelle moved out on me, too, unfortunately, but Rory still sticks with me. One of the most ironic move-ins I had was Yuka, as I was looking at her page on the AC Wiki months before she arrived, thinking how cool it'd be if I managed to get her, since she shared the name of a couple of my favorite characters from Touhou, that being Yuka Kazami, and Yukari Yakumo. Lo and behold, she moves in, and she helped me a LOT. Quickly became my favorite snooty, with giving lots of Modern PWPs, spreading the Happi Tee around like a virus (I LOVE that shirt design), among helping me with my zen themed furniture. But let's address the elephant in the room. Or should I say cat? Lolly. As I said before, my interest in her grew from seeing her featured in Vinesauce streams, which led me to start doing Animal Crossing stuff. I got New Leaf, and months later, City Folk. She was a starter in CF, and I grew to adore her, there. Outright cute, was very sociable, and when she got sick, I couldn't help but feel bad for her. Come to January 15th. A friend of mine had her in boxes in his town. I SURGE to his place, pick her up, and wake up the next morning. Where did she plot? RIGHT NEXT TO MY HOUSE, THREE SQUARES TO THE SIDE, PERFECTLY. I got to know her more and more, and she was REALLY helping me with my HHA points, helping me finish my robo set, which got me the 150k points, and started giving me harmonious furniture like you wouldn't believe to help me hit 1.1 million. Fast forward to my birthday. I didn't know how New Leaf did this. Starting the game up, I got the typical birthday wishes from Isabelle, then after that, I found Lolly grabbing me by the hand, dragging me to her house, to celebrate my birthday. Next day, she gives me her picture. I knew I fell in love with her. And it goes on and oh my god I went off on a tangent. Um, yeah. Scoot. Another Vinefluence, as I so put it. He has a spa set. I need the spa set. He's been giving me spa items. He's also pretty chill and entertaining, despite being a Jock just like Rory. I paid 160 TBT in a war for him. I ain't letting him go.

There's no way to pick 10 dreamies out of 333 villagers! :) it's not fair to make people choose, I would have like a town of 50 if I could. I just get whoevers available until my town fill up

Well I picked all the small bird villagers that I like and then picked two other types of bird villagers for the missing personalities. Eugene is just there because a town without Eugene is a town without happiness.
