I bought the 3DS XL with ACNL as one of my main purchases. I think that I bought it a month before ACNL's release? I never was a part of the online community and I just discovered it through someone else from Facebook. I was already set on buying the 3DS though because of Pokemon XY.
My story is pretty straightforward. Why not share yours?
I loved the previous AC games so was mega excited when this one was announced. The fiance pre-ordered the AC 3DS XL for my birthday One very lucky lady
Played since the Gamecube. My boyfriend introduced me to AC on Gamecube. Then I got a DS and Wild World, then City Folks, and now New Leaf. Actually went back last night and played the Gamecube and City Folk games, I miss how funny the villagers were in the Gamecube version.
A couple of friends of mine online were talking about it before it's release. They had grown up on AC and were really looking forward to it.
All their talk led me to looking it up. I'd never heard of it before and it had been years since I played video games.
I went back and forth and then finally ended up buying the AC 3DS and have been addicted since.
Hmm.. I think I was told about it by my friend, since we both like AC. But that was a few years ago, and so I was waiting for a loooooong time for it to come out.
I may have forgotten about it for a while, but then the guide I used for City Folk started making a "guide" for New Leaf. Although at first it was mostly rumors and then things that were true.
I've been playing AC since I was a kid, so when the 3DS was unveiled at E3 2010, I pretty much pre-ordered the 3DS the moment the pre-orders became available.
And then as the years passed I kinda went off Nintendo a little, and gave my 3DS away, I did think about buying one again around New Leafs launch but couldn't afford it and I wasn't too interested by that point anyway.
But then Chugga's lp kinda re-kindled my love of Animal Crossing and I went out and brought a 2DS (cheaper) with the game soon after his lp finished.
I never played Animal Crossing before.. I don't know why, but when I saw this game I was like: 'I NEED TO HAVE THIS GAME'. I bought it on the release, but I didn't like the game.. I played 11 hours after 4 weeks, and I didn't understand the game. Everyone was talking about stuff, and bells. And I was like: Bells, what are they? How can you get them? But, I loved it after a few weeks. I know almost everything about the game now, and I'm in shock that I never tried any Animal crossing on the DS or Gamecube. I didn't know what is was.. But I love the game now.
I bought my 2ds because of pokemon and when I was kind of done I decided to buy acnl after some research. I originally saw posts about it on tumblr and fell in love with it. I did have to get used to the slower game play than in other games though, but it's fun that way!
Had seen previews of it when I was playing AC CF so I knew I would eventually be playing this one. I love AC and will be playing the next version when it comes out
I had been looking for a relaxing game I could play on-the-go and discovered WW. When I heard there was going to be a new AC game coming out sometime and I knew that Luigi Mansion 2 (Dark Moon) also was coming out sometime, I got myself the midnight purple (favorite color) 3ds 6 months before Luigi was released and 9 months before NL. As it got closer to when ACNL was to be release, I bought a 3XL (pink/white) and pre-ordered 2 copies of NL. I played 2 games of WW so I knew I would want 2 copies of NL. Loved watching Lin&Kohei and Mayor Joshy's Let's Plays on YouTube of their JP version.
I had never played a handheld game since the very first one, I think it was called "Simple Simon" in either the late 70's or early 80's. Then I was a Zork fanatic on my Commodore. Then I got into pc games a little, but tended to play the "Baldur's Gate" games and the "Diablo" ones so much my husband finally wanted to introduce me to "something new, for a change," and he bought me a 3DS and ACNL. This AC is the only one I've ever played. It is sort of funny because he bored of ACNL very quickly, but likes other DS games. He got me addicted!
So, I'm new to AC and handheld in general, even tho in age I'm one of the older folks here.
My friend loves the AC series so my first game was CF but it never really grew on me. I heard about NL in an ad online and I was not to excited about so I completely forgot about it. Then launch day came and my friend was instant on coming over, but yeah I forgot it was that day lol. So he surprised me with new leaf which was really nice of him. I started my town that night and haven't been able to put it down since I loved new leaf so much I went out and got a second copy I thank my friend bc if it weren't for him I would have missed out on a great game
I turned the big 5-0 this year, so I'm also one of the older folks here.
I played Super Mario 64 & Banjo/Kazooie on the N64 but then took a long break (real-life got in the way). Played some games on the Wii (loved Go Vacation) and WW on the DS. But New Leaf is my absolute favorite.
My boyfriend-at-the-time introduced me to City Folk a couple of years back, I got obsessed to the point where he literally just gave me his game. I played it for a couple of months before I took a break for a while, then after my absolute #1 favorite villager, aka my bff Dotty, moved out, I got so depressed I just stopped playing. When they first announced they were working on New Leaf (or Jump Out, as it was called at first) I was super excited right from the start, I followed a tumblr blog specifically for news about New Leaf for a really long time and talked a lot to my AC-playing friends about it. It was really great to have something so big to look forward to!
I'd played Wild World a lot about 7 or 8 years ago. I bought a 3DS about 5 months ago so that I could play Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, so I thought since I had a 3DS, I might as well buy New Leaf since I really enjoyed Wild World and thought it probably wouldn't be all that much different, and I'm quite glad I did.
