How did you decorate outside your house?

It's stupid because even when playing New Leaf all I wanted was fences, so I could make myself a nice garden area outside my characters house - so I never thought I'd actually struggle with this part, but I do. I don't know how to decorate outside my house\make a garden area. I don't want just a square of fence and then some flowers and a chair, it looks too plain. I've re-done it many times and I keep it for a day or two, then realizing I hate it.. So my question is what did you do in front of your house? Even better, post a picture if you have it ;_; i need help

I don't like taking up too much space with my yard so i have my house sitting in a little valley between two cliffs (with a grassy slope leading up to the orchard)

also have a little fenced off garden for turnips/hybrids/whatever, and a little waterfall and pond. I wanted my house to be nestled in the landscape a bit, with a sort of hidden/foresty feel to it.

I used some nice stepping stone designs for my paths near my house instead of the terraforming paths available, gives it a nice natural look and means the paths can wind around a lot better, and are less static. It's a work in progress, but i'm actually quite happy with how it looks rn !

I"m really not that into the concept of putting fences and items all over the place. I put my house on the cliffs. It's surrounded by cedar trees and mums. The only items I have out are a couple garden gnomes and a workbench.

my house is up on the cliffs - there’s not much to it currently but i have some pink and blue palm tree lamps surrounding it and i terraformed a small pond next to my house aha

In the back it's a bamboo forest with an onsen feel with bamboo dolls! Oh and zen fencing.

Most of the stuff around my house is just landscape stuff instead of furniture. Right now, the main thing in front of my house is a rainbow made of flowers! To either side to fill space there's a small pool of water, a clothesline, swinging bench, and a few small garden items (lanterns, hose). Also a lot of 3x5 plots with flowers I'm breeding for hybrids, though I don't know what I'm going to do with all those spaces once I'm done hybrid breeding. Considering putting down some waterfalls but not sure if I'll have space.

I'm still in the process of decorating and terraforming. I'm just doing section by section for my sanity so this is my outline.

I'm making an area for my "manor" so as you walk up to it, you're like "whoa this is the head honcho's house and I might die tonight."

I'll probably scatter tombstones in the forest to make it more spooky. You're not supposed to feel welcomed at all.

I picked an island with a mini island near the center of it. I put my house in the middle of it. I don't need to fence it because the river does that for me. Lol

I put some cedar trees around it.

I haven't even decorated most of the rooms on the inside yet (it's fully upgraded) because I've focused so much on decorating my island.

I've done a little bit of country fencing, some orange hyacinths, lawnmower, flower wheelbarrow, barbecue, iron table and chair with a coconut juice and the dog house with a snapping turtle. I love it.

Just some fence and flowers and typical outdoor items, I used to put an oarfish outside, but im saving it so I can have it as a model..
