It's the name of the beast-laguz dwelling nation in Fire Emblem Path of Radiance & Radiant Dawn. I thought it fit kinda, though my villagers don't represent any of the characters intentionally.
Rosewood was the name of my boyfriend's town. When I got a copy, he wanted to start fresh with me since he'd only had his since Christmas and I got mine New Year's. I stole the name and some of his dreamies for my own. It's not the most unique, but I love it. c:
Mine is kind of telling of the kind of nerd I am-- My town name and name in the game (...And here, coincidentally) all have the same link. And it comes in the form of a theatre history lesson.
During Shakespearean times, there was another playwrite by the name of Christopher Marlowe. All of his plays were written pretty much to make fun of Shakespeare. One of his most famous plays was Tamburlaine. So, my mayor's name is Marlowe, and my town is Laine.
Both my Town name and Mayor's name come from this:
I ran a guild on Ragnarok Online called "Mirage" for many years, and my main character's name was Melody Rose. I've become attached to both names over the years. I considered some different names for the town, but in the end, nostalgia won out. And it has a dreamy sort of feel to the name, anyway, which is what I was going for.
My names aren't super original. The town I had in Wild World was called Our Town after the play. My current New Leaf town is Goldmoon, named after a character in the Dragonlance book series.
Mine is Kittyton because my Wild World town was called that too and it's nostalgic I can't remember the original reason I used it though, haha, it's been so long
I think it started out as I'd always name my city Havington in the console version of the sims 2 pets, since it sounded fancy. Then I named my second town Haventon in WW, since Havington wouldn't fit, and Haven was a nice word and felt suitable for an Animal Crossing town. Since then, it's stuck.
I have had 8 towns since June of 2013, and here is how I chose the town names:
(1) Auvergne, my first town: I daydreamed about this town for years while waiting for ACNL to be released. After months of trying to imagine the perfect name, I made up this name from nothing but my imagination. To me sounds like a place hidden away in a grotto in the French Alps. Turns out it is really the name of an area in France, but I didn't know it at the time. This was my most favorite town name of all eight.
(2) Illusion, because a town in a video game is just an illusion.
(3) Anglesey, named after an island in Wales that I had been reading about.
(4) Solaria, name chosen on the spur of the moment when Rover asked me. Sounds like sunshine, so pretty.
(5) Heaven, chosen because my ACNL town is my little corner of Heaven. This was my least favorite town name of the eight. It's kind of stupid.
(6) Moonsea, named after an area in the old AD&D RPGs like Pools of Radiance.
(7) Moonbeam, named on the spur of the moment. I chose this name because I hated ditching the name Moonsea due to great memories of those old games. So this was pretty close to Moonsea.
(8) Oceania (my present town), name chosen on the spur of the moment because I love the ocean, and it sounds a little like Solaria.
Often I just wait until Rover asks me and then I get that "oh my gosh!!" scared feeling because I don't have a name. One comes to me within a minute when I am feeling like that. I like naming towns that way and (other than Heaven) the names I have come up with have seemed fine to me.
My main town is Honeymoo, it was going to be Honeymoon, but it wouldn't fit, then I decided Honeymoo was super duper cute, so I kept it. My second town, Pasadena is a city in California commonly called the city of roses, so I decided I'd decorate it with tons of roses, though now I'm not sure I'm going to keep the town and might reset soon.
Labryth was named after an islet of the same name in the story I'm writing. The name itself was derived from the word 'labyrinth', mostly due to the underground networks on it.
My town's name is Kalos and I came up with it just because I made it before pokemon x and y came out. I was so excited for it I decided to name my town after the new pokemon region
My town's name is Kalos and I came up with it just because I made it before pokemon x and y came out. I was so excited for it I decided to name my town after the new pokemon region
My first town's name just popped into my and it was PERFECT.
Now that I'm trying to make a second town, I can't come up with a name I like. The ones I think of either sound too "harsh" (not pretty to my ears) or too contrived. Why must town names be so difficult?
