So, I've seen some 'what should I name my town' threads pop up recently, and that gave me the idea for this thread. Do you have a story behind your town name? Or did you pick something random and just go with it? Post your stories here!

My town name, Amity, comes from a place in one of my favorite books, Divergent. The people that live there are happy and peaceful, so I thought it would be the perfect name for my town. Plus, Divergent is awesome so there's that xD.

I created my character to look like Sailor Mercury (Ami Mizuno), so since my Mayor is Ami, why not make the town's name Mercury!

Harajuku is just a place and brand I love. nwn
So I named my town that.

My town is Lilycove. I'm really not all that creative, and I really love Pokemon, so I wanted a name from Pokemon. Hoenn is my favorite region, so I looked there. I really liked the way Lilycove sounded, so I picked that one.

c: I'm a huge history buff, and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon happen to be one of my favorite places to read about, so!~

My town's name is Arendell, I got the game shortly after watching Frozen and the kingdom's name is Arendelle but the last e made it too long.

my town is named maria. back when i was a part of the shingeki no kyojin craze, i had a fascination with the walls that the people lived within. wall maria was one of the walls, so i abbreviated into maria.

My latest town name (and the one I think I'm going tho stuck with), Sondheim, was chosen because he's my favorite composer/lyricist. I'm planning on working several "easter egg" type references to his musicals into my town, in various little ways.

Wild World town = Nighting (like nightingale)

Then I got to ACNL and was like "hm" and ended up naming it Dusking haha. My creativity is amazing, obviously.

My town name is Treehut.

It has been since Wild World - someone on Reddit commented that it had a WW feel to it, which it does! My younger self wanted the town name to... actually sound like a town name. I guess I liked trees, and huts are cool, and Treehut altogether sounds good for the impatient girl who wants to play the game already. It's my town name on City Folk, and so I decided to make it my town name here too!

The other name that I was contemplating was Olympus, after Mount Olympus (you know... home of the Greek Gods), especially since Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a series that I love.

Other names that I have just thought of are Hogsmeade (Harry Potter related) and your house could be Shell Cottage, perhaps? The Library of Alexandria is just too long, otherwise I might have done that.

It was snowing the day I started playing so i was like why not do SNOFLAKE
and that was great...when it was winter....
but now that it's spring..... hahaha

Azalea:
its a small bug town in pokemon, seemed perfect for Animal crossing

Food, enough said

I wanted a town with a lot of natural beauty and more town-like than a city. My boyfriend named his previous town Rosewood because he thought it was nice sounding. He restarted when I got my copy, so I took the name. It sounds natural, perfect for a town full of roses (I'm working on that part). I have a flag with a rose on it.

He named his new town Haven, because he wants it to be a haven for all his villagers and visitors. His flag has a sword and shield on it.

ah? I'm kindof boring, but I just really love cherry blossoms, in real life and also as a visual element. If I hadn't gone with Sakura as my town name I probably would have chosen some sort of Rose Garden name. I really love flowers.

I don't know why I chose Elora. I suppose it has a nice ring to it. It sounds a little like flora as well, and it's going to be a forest-y haven :3

I love the podcast and am extremely unoriginal. Plus, I thought it'd be a funny little personal inside joke because Welcome to Nightvale is so creepy and weird and my town has it's own little backstory (all in my head, of course, because I'm too lazy to actually write about it) that's 100% not creepy. Idk, I thought it'd be funny.
