How close can I plant trees to certain areas?

I'm planning on planting an orchard in my town, but I want it to be as compact as possible.
So I was wondering, how close can I plant a tree next to a cliff, another tree, or a villager house?

But I'm not sure if these spots i've dug out would be feasible for tree growth.

As to your second question, there must be at least one space apart. There are some exceptions near cliffs where you only need room to get around it.

I think those spots are okay c: you can also head over to the Retail forum to buy a silver/gold axe from someone here. Not sure exactly what the going rate is for the silver but the gold are around 1 million IGB.

One million, geez. I have that but it's for my house an public work projects. But i'll take a gander. If the prices are high i'll just see if I can't get it myself.
