How close can a villagers plot be to a river?

I'm getting ready to move some dreamies in my town, and need to know how close they can be the river.

by the way, the river would be on the side of the house. I'm hoping it's one spot in between (like: river > dig a hole > house)

Need to know before i start plot resetting for eternity, lol

1 spot from the east, west and north, and 2 from the north, so yeah 1 spot should be fine.

Well I've had them plot within one square of a cliff before now so I can't see being by a river would be much different? One square should be more than enough room
