How can I get a villager NOT to move?

Mathilda just asked me to move and I pressed the wrong button. I do not want her to move. How can I stop her?

If you've given her permission, then it likely auto-saved after the conversation. Unfortunately she's going to move. However, if you have someone else with her or find her on an island, you can get her back.

You can get a second person on your island to ask them to stay!

Great thank you! I’m so glad I created a second character (just yesterday). I was able to ask her to stay.


I had her amiibo also but I didn’t want to have to go through the whole process again.

Yeah it looks like there’s nothing That can be done with just one character, but if you have a second, they villager pings them as well

I asked pinky to stay from the campsite and then I tried to use my second character to ask tex to stay and nothings happening!
