How bad is the penalty for not playing for several months in AC:NL?

It's been about six months since I last played, and I'm really anxious about playing because I don't want to lose any villagers ><. I've heard the penalty isn't nearly as bad as it was in previous games, but I'm not sure. I don't mind too much about weeds, though, as I have a lot of money in my bank and I can just pay Olaf.

Most of the penalties won't be imposed if you have Beautiful Town Ordinance active.

  • Bedhair is your characters' hairstyle
  • One of the villagers move out
  • Other villagers will get mad at you for not seeing you in a while.
  • Certain events at the time you're inactive will be missed.

If you don't have Beautiful Town Ordinance active, then you will experience weeds, roaches, disappearing flowers, and whatever I said previously.

It's not all that bad.

I have beautiful town ordinance, so fortunately I wouldn't experience a lot of that. I'm just really worried about having a villager move out ><. Is it for certain that it'll happen?

having a villager moving is not 100% for sure but chances are high one did

Well, I already went back to April 19th as that was my birthday and I stopped playing before that - will I be fine if I just play every holiday/special day? (which is roughly every couple of weeks or so)

I hear that animals don't move if you stopped playing on the day you rejected an animal's request about moving.

villagers still might move out because that would count as being ignored... I recommend talking to the villagers you want to keep atleast once every 3 days

if an animal were to move out while she was gone for a month they wouldnt request and they would already be gone or in boxes

Bleh, so would I be better off just skipping to now, then? I could play every third day but, that's just kinda annoying to do ><

you can try every 7 days but I know you will get a ping for a move but you can decline them and you can skip but that raises chances for one of the villagers or 2 moving out and some moving in xD

although I reccomened just tting to the original date than later on if you were to do it(before loading town atm)

I just had Julian say that Paula was thinking about moving, and conveniently enough she's pretty much the only person I wouldn't mind leaving. Could I use this to my advantage, like if I put back the time now would it be her moving for sure?

Sorry for bugging you guys with this, I just don't wanna lose my babies :c

Awesome, thanks, and of course I know she's a bear :p I just call my villagers babies overall because I love them like they're my own children :3 (although I hate babies xD) and what's so creepy about my join date? You have a good day/night too though xP, it's like 8 am here so yeah.

I was looking to see if this answer was here. I heard the same thing and many have confirmed it.

Does work. I've done it loads of time. The reason why is, there are thinking and moving periods in game.
Someone thinking about moving usually 3-5 days
When you stop someone from moving- grace period of 2 days; thus, no one has thought about moving yet after you deny a villager.

Confirming it works too! That's exactly what I do when I know I won't play for awhile, which is stop playing when and animal's request to move out is denied. That way, months can go by and I know everyone will still be there and accounted for!

I've tested this a lot by tting back and forth months at a time and it's always worked for me, none of my dreamies have left me.

If I stop playing and no one asked to move out on that day, I write down the date so I can travel back to that date when I finally get back to town again. That way it's as if no time has passed at all and then I used the method I mentioned before to travel back to the original date.
