How auto filling works

I noticed a little in the past but now it really seems that it is this way. Idk but wanted to hear what others think on it or if they noticed the same thing.
So my island is like 4 days old. I have only found a few diy bottles that came with letters signed by certain villagers. My plots given to me from Tom were auto filled by the villagers who signed the diy letters instead of being completely random.

Soon after the game released last year, I remember reading something along the lines of "You may find message bottles on the beach containing DIYs sent by potential future residents." Now I don't know how factual that is, it could be just flavour text added to their description of how message bottles work ...

Now that you mention it though, I got a DIY sent by Marlo which I thought was cool at the time, since he's one of the brand new villagers. He appeared in my campsite not long after ... Maybe there is something in it ...

I'd never noticed this, that's cool! I wish I'd been paying more attention to the DIYs so I could see if they match the campsite villagers.
