I'm just curious to see what everyone is doing with their villagers. Are you buying/scanning in your favorites asap? Are you just going with the flow and letting villagers move in and out naturally? Or anywhere in between.

Having new villagers move in is one of my favorite parts of the game, but I prefer to savor the experience. Right now I'm waiting for someone to ask to move naturally. Once I have an open plot I island hop a little, but nothing too crazy. If I see someone who strikes my interest I invite them. If I don't find anyone appealing, then I invite someone via amiibo.

I do have an ultimate dreamy list in mind, but there are a lot of villagers that I like that didn't quite make the final list. So if I find one of my runners up while island hopping I plan to invite them, even if they're not going to be permanent.

At first I was in a rush to get everyone I wanted. I spent countless hours grinding for NMTs and visiting hundreds of islands. I managed to (eventually) find all of the villagers I initially wanted, but somehow in the process got kind of bored of (some of) them, and have slowly transitioned to going with the flow. I've got about 6-7 villagers I don't plan to let go of anytime soon, and the others will be allowed to leave if they ask so I can find someone new. Not sure if I'll risk void queue or go island hopping. Probably the latter but we'll see.

My first move out was natural but all of my move-ins post KK have been either from trades or friends. I'm pretty happy with my island right now but I know for sure that I will only have 3 - 5 permanent villagers so everyone else is free to come and go and I'm going to do it naturally from now on since I've moved in my favourites first to experience live with them on the island and then it will be random

Right now I'm amiiboing in all of my dreamies. I'm definitely keeping them until I get their pictures. After that... We'll see. I don't think I'll ever let go of Agnes, because she is my absolute favorite. And Dom needs to stay, unless/ until he gets an amiibo. Other than those two, I think I will eventually allow random move-ins.

I have a few amiibo cards of my favorites and I do use Pashmina to cycle a little if I change my mind lol, but it's pretty 50/50 on who I found on a mystery island and who was a trade/giveaway. I had reset my island and 5/10 of my old Seabrook villagers came with me to my new island. I had thought for a while that I was pretty firm on my list of 10 and that I wouldn't change anything even on this new island.

Very recently I was cycling peppies around and Bunnie was traded to me offsite. She is my newest addition and she replaced Audie who I found on a mystery island. Island hopping can be fun, but tedious and I prefer getting a direct trade for the villager with my NMT rather than island hop. I'm 99% sure now I have all 10 of my permanent villagers, but I've debated having around 12 and just cycling a few of them out every now and then, but I'd buy their amiibo cards first. The best part about this game is that you can always make changes and I am open to potentially moving someone out if I find someone I want to have more than them.

I've been having a lot of fun having my villagers move in and out naturally. I don't have a permanent dreamie list which really helps. I really like island hopping, and plan to have a bunch of villagers moving in and out :) There's a whole bunch of really cool villagers out there, there's no way I could limit myself to 10.

As of now, I have a few "lock-ins" (I plan on keeping them forever). They are Iggly, Whitney, Marshal, and possibly Ike.

I plan on cycling out the other six. I always trade off of Discord or go Island hopping. Whenever someone moves out, I make sure someone of the same personality type takes their place.

I have tons of villagers I like, so I'm pretty open about villagers I invite. My intentions for my second island are to invite the first villager I encounter from each island, unless it's a villager I have had previously.

I was lucky this morning that the first villager I encountered was Flora! I've actually wanted her originally on my main island but I was happy with my Peppy villagers there.

I just let randos move in. I feel as though having all of my "final" villagers right away will just kind of... make the game boring? Like do I really want to spend the next 4 years staring at the same villagers. (Granted I could change it up whenever but. Eh.)

Once I unlocked the ability to scan amiibo, I started scanning cards in of my favorites. I have 10 dreamies in my town currently. I'm considering to have less, however. And perhaps switch things up in this game so I have 2 "visitor status" villagers, that are random ones I let come and go, so that I can meet new villagers I wouldn't normally allow into my town, yet still be keeping 1 of each of the personality types

I want to experience villagers that catch my attention, so island hopping is a big thing for me. When I resetted, some friends offered keeping my favorite villagers of my old save file, but since I didn't want to be a bother, I asked them to just keep Sherb, since he doesn't have an amiibo yet.

While island hopping for materials in my new save file, I came across villagers such as Punchy, Raymond and Fauna, who I absolutely adore right now (Fauna was my last ticket one day I was having a really bad day and she just brightened it completely). Also, while using the campsite method to get a friend's dreamie I found my own, Fang! Who I was missing a lot from my old save file (I never had him before NH).

I'm pretty happy with having for now 5 permanent residents, and now take a break and just play normally. Rod is moving today so I won't have to worry about kicking Judy out for my friend later on too, since she won't be the last who moved in. I wonder who I'll meet tomorrow ^^

Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm going to make/get the amiibos for the dreamies I'll be meeting in this game, like Fang, Punchy and Sherb when his comes out

i got my initial dreamie list through island hopping, the campsite, and online trading. i TTed a lot to get people out. now i'm letting people move out naturally and am trying to only use tours and the campsite to get new villagers.

Four of the villagers in my island were scanned in with amiibo cards, two were my starters and one was a random move in who I really love. I adopted a villager from someone online and the last two villagers were ones I found on mystery islands and asked to move in.
I originally let them move out naturally until the glitch was fixed, but after that I kicked out some villagers for my amiibo cards. I have a lot of villagers I like, but most of them have shared personalities and I'm trying to have at least one of each personality so I don't just have an island full of cranky and snooty villagers!

Island hopped, then bought some for NMTs, then got some from giveaway, right now I have 10 villagers already and 4 of them I'll surely keep which is nice (my first 5 are random villagers, the 6th is a campsite one, I was only able to choose for the 7th to 10th and got all dreamies on those), I'm not too crazy on kicking out anyone immediately, I'd rather have them move out naturally, the dreamies of course can never leave lol

I've been going with the flow. I hoped for my dreamies and got some which I'm happy about but I've also found myself drawn to some villagers that I've overlooked before like Rolf and Octavian!

i've been amiiboing in all my dreamies basically since i unlocked the function, and as i have around 40 cards ive honestly been cycling villagers in and out more frequently than i ever did in previous games

it makes me kind of sad, as im really not connecting with my villagers quite as well as i did in previous games (although i think more buildings and events etc will help this, as well as life going back to normal someday) so that's contributed a lottttt to villager burn out for me and has made me cycle and scan amiibos in more heavily than i ever did before

I’ve been trading NMT and villagers I’ve found on islands to get all of my dreamies. I’m getting my last one today, and once I have her, I will be decorating and terra-forming. I have to complete things one at a time or else I feel overwhelmed

I scanned Alice as soon as I had the campsite because I was really looking forward to having her on my island.

If someone who isn't a permanent resident wants to move out, I let them. If there's someone in the campsite and I don't have their card, I let them replace whichever non-perma comes up first. My main goal is to have as many different villagers live on my island for a while to get their posters (excluding cards since I can just scan those directly on Photopia.)

If I come across Raymond or Genji/Sterling in the process, I'll keep them. All other dreamies I can scan whenever I'm done with the poster hunt.

so I don't just have an island full of cranky and snooty villagers!
Im afraid of this happening to me. I just invited my third snooty and a love the design of all three.

I have two amiibo cards of my favourite villagers and I’ve been island hopping for the rest. I like there’s some an element of randomness but you still have control over who moves in. I just invite the first villager I find whose design I like.

I tend to just go with the flow. If someone asks and they are not on my lock in list I let them go. If so like whoever is at the campsote I swap them. I dont have a firm favorites list. And try not to.....that way it will keep things fresh.
