For those of us who don?t have enough time to play New Leaf and New Horizons, are you planning on doing anything ceremonial to part ways until the unforeseen future?
I?m sending money to my favorite villagers so they can support themselves while I?m gone lool.
Gonna sit under the town tree for what may be the last time and reminisce. Its going to give me nostalgia pains but I want to properly say bye. :?)

You got anything planned?

I haven’t planned anything as I’m playing to still try and play as much as I can but I do kind of want to do something now as an ~end of an era~ thing - your ideas are beautiful <3

Im prob gonna still try to play acnl here and there! Im gonna send letters to my villagers and also gonna sit under the tree :( :3

I'm still going to play my main town here and there, I have no plans of never playing again, that's mean lol I love my villagers.

I may give my second town to my daughter to introduce her to animal crossing, I never got to finish it but I love the villagers in there and it'd be fun to see her play.

I'm going to post a temporary resignation on my bulletin board, and send all of my villagers letters. I'm also going to document all the memories in my animal crossing scrapbook. I'm a bit sad for resigning, but I definitely won't be deleting my NL save file.

Well, I already stopped playing New Leaf a while ago, I didn't really said goodbye at all, so yeah... To be honest, whenever a new AC titles drops, I just abandoning the current game for the sake of the new one, I don't plan anything big in-game, it's just happens and that's it...

That's so sweet. I don't know if I can ever say goodbye fully. I spent five years playing that game. I'm super attached to my town, with all its landscaping and themed houses. It took so much work. Maybe I'll just check in on them from time to time like visiting old friends after you move away. Until my 3DS stops working, I guess.

Technically I still haven't done everything there is to do in that game; I still don't have gold badges in every category. ;)

I didn’t really have a good bye. I stopped playing maybe about two months ago. It just happened all of a sudden. I restarted my town and then I regretted it instantly. We are so close to new horizons though that it makes no sense to continue to build up a new town when I’ll be starting a new island soon.

I had Fond memories in New Leaf though, and I’m experiencing a bit of nostalgia right now.

I think I'm going to spend the week leading up to New Horizon's release going absolutely wild. I'll be visiting friend's towns and inviting them to mine so we can mess around and go on as many tours on the island as we can handle. I'll be doing my best to get my town as close to perfect as I can, and then I'll have it waiting for me whenever I need a break from NH. My New Leaf town is 12 hours ahead, so when nighttime rolls around and I can't do as much on my island, I'll just open up my town and enjoy it there.

I know where you're coming from. I don't want to say goodbye either. My town holds such good memories of making a close friend, being so MATICULOUS about the design, placing paths, erasing them, placing them down again. Hell, I even miss trying to get Goose to move out. I also miss how life was a little bit lighter back then, I was 19 and wasn't really self aware. But now I'm ready to make new memories, new friends and new decor frustrations :)

I won't be saying goodbye, I'll still be checking in from time to time. I've still got my original WW town, that I check in on too, but not as often. Don't think I could say goodbye to either no matter how good NH will be.

I'm not parting ways with Animal Crossing forever, so I don't feel the need to do anything ceremonial. :) Even with New Leaf, I'm sure someday I'll revisit, albeit only for a moment to remember a few things I forgot about it. Despite being busy, I plan to force myself to separate time in order to experience New Horizons, since I'm still a big fan of Animal Crossing -
even it's only 1/2 - 1 Hour per day.

this thread makes me sad that i sold my copies of new leaf lmao c’:

I wasn't planning anything big for my game and considered it for a second when I saw this thread, but I think it won't really be necessary because I'll go back to it someday.

I won't be saying goodbye because I can't afford a switch so I'll still be playing New Leaf. Eventually I'll stop playing, naturally, but I can always go back and reboot it the way people do wild world and gamecube. There's no reason to say goodbye if I still own it.

I'm not gonna change a thing. Even though if I plan to do something special, I'll always come back to my New Leaf town to keep my villagers in check.

This is interesting--Until today I didn't give it much thought, until I saw people talking about sending farewell letters to villagers on twitter... I have a practical focus, which is to generate my dream address (finally) when this last bunch of trees grows to full height, which should just be a few days. But I like your idea of sitting under the town tree and just reminiscing, so I'll probably do that too! It seems like a nice way to say goodbye. I'm sad to go, but ready for something new!
