House placement

Hi,
I'm currently plot resetting, and I wanted to know if you think that it is even possible that a house is placed there, because the pond is so near. One of my starter villagers lived also on one of these spots, but I'm not sure anymore if a new villager can live there...

House can be placed there. I have Fang in a location one spot away from the river too.

Edit: I made a mistake. Fang is two spaces away from the river.

I don't think so... I believe 2 spots away is the minimum distance,
I'm not 100% sure though, but all my villagers who live close to my cliffs or rivers are 2 spots away.

I'm pretty positive they can. Marshal in my first town lives 1 spot away from the river if I remember correctly

I just walked past Puck's house, and he's only got one space between him and the river. You should be okay. If the game put someone there before, it will put them there again (it's a reasonable concern, though; Clay was a starting villager one space away from a rock, and I worried literally for months that it wouldn't let me put Erik there, but it did).
