I've started a new island last night, with the goal of keeping progress for at least one full year. Let's see how this goes!
Honeycove's name came from my love of tropical aesthetics...and my consumption of honey nut cheerios during the process of island creation.

Starting Villagers: Reneigh & Drift

I reset a lot trying to find the 'perfect' island to start over with. My main reason for doing so was the starting villagers; I need to actually like them in order to immerse myself in the game and really enjoy it. I was originally trying to get Dom, but after several restarts I caved and decided to accept other jock villagers. And that's when I came across this island. I loved the idea of getting a new-to-the-series villager as my starter, and I've always liked Drift (poison dart frogs are so cool), so right away this island drew me in. The river formation is also quite nice, and when I'm able to, I plan to move the museum in the middle of the big circle. I think I'd also like to put my house on the right of the circle, where the pond is, and the shops down and to the right below the cliff.

My first gift was from Drift, an explorer's hat..very fitting for a new island.

I am truly a Horizon-Bound Artist. This fine masterpiece can be bought now for 50,000,000,000 bells.​

I visited a few islands last night, to gather resources for the Nookling's shop. Along the way I met:

Megan!
I thought about inviting her to live on my island, just because she's a ~new~ villager, but...I don't particularly like her design.

Next I came across Flurry!

I invited her to be my first move-in villager, she's small and cute and I just really like her!
(but omg was she a pain to photograph. it took me nearly five full minutes to get her to stand still AND face the dang camera at the same time. smh girl.)
But I still needed resources, and so I set out for a third island, to where I met..

Yup, I changed Flurry's invitation for Erik instead.
I've always loved this little moose since I first met him in my campsite in New Leaf and just had to have him on my new island. ❤

Today was pretty eventful, I explored another island and got a ton of coconuts (along with some last night) which I planted around!

Decorated my house with some basics, it's definitely not the final look at all but I just wanted some nice furniture for the time being.

Nook's Cranny is all set up! Can't wait to get more furniture so I can start decorating the outside!
I plan on putting the Able sisters shop on the right of the cliff in the background there (location off-screen).

I got all three beginner villager homes set up!

Sprinkle is a good villager; I've always loved her design, she's very cute.

To my surprise, both Erik AND Flurry moved in as well. But hey, I'm not complaining!

I think tomorrow I will work on creating yards, weeding the island, and start decorating the outside of Nook's Cranny.​

Updates for the past three days!

Honestly...not much has gone on. The beginning of the game is pretty boring lol
But! The villagers have been moving in:

My house has been getting upgrades and I'm working on making it look nice!

Side note: I'm on the lookout for kitchen and bathroom themed furniture, so if you have any to sell feel free to message me!

Tomorrow the resident services building will begin construction, which is one step closer to unlocking terraforming! .. :")
I don't really plan on updating this journal on a day-by-day basis, mostly because there's only so much you can do in one day especially in the beginning. I'll probably do a weekly update or a every-few-days update or something.

A week has gone by and progress has been made! Most of the following pictures are old of course and things have changed between then but I didn't feel like taking new ones and reuploading them because I'm pretty lazy atm,,

I fully expanded my entire house, including the upgraded storage! I'm still super lacking in the furniture department so all of my rooms are pretty bare but they're coming along! I'm trying to go for a chill, laid-back, semi-tropical vibe with my house. A kind of place to return to and just fully relax, with all the comforts in arms reach.

Got the campsite up and running! I've been making us of it with amiibos and just invited the first to move in today! (Zucker)
Huck was my forced smug move in. We do not talk about Huck. I hate him..

I don't really do ceremonies all that often, didn't even do them in New Leaf. But I thought this one would be nice to have for the memories of where it all started.

First time coming across this type of island, I was really surprised! Thought it was rare but my friend mentioned he came across it often, and then I got one literally the next two islands after lol. Oh well, still very cool.

I've unlocked the 3-star rating which means KK will be showing up soon and finally I can get to terraforming!
I didn't participate in the bug-off because frankly I never liked it nor the fishing tourneys, but I did catch a scorpion and orchid mantis for the museum! (along with some other bugs..but they are less significant to me..lol)
