Yes, I have started one.
Whine about the gigapause, share your otps and argue over those, anything.
Just don't force hate in here.

I was a homestuck in like 2010-2012 and it was terrible and I'm Never Looking Back
Vriska and roxy and kanaya are the only good characters everyone else was ****

i stopped reading during one of the pauses because i lost interest in it. i don't even remember where i left off, i just have a vague idea

being excited over updates was great, and homestuck was the reason i started taking art more seriously, so i kinda miss it. but not enough to catch up ahaha, i feel like i'd have to read the whole thing again since there is so much of it that i don't remember anymore.

oh, i also roleplayed a lot back then. always nepeta. i learned so many cat puns

my english also got better (more words) when i got to doc scratch. at first i couldn't understand half of his dialogue >:{

:p I don't hate it, but I never finished it. Have like another 1000 pages to go. I already know what happens from spoilers from my friends and mostly tumblr xD My favorite is Terezi o:

I'm doing my weird summer tradition of re-reading it every like I always do since I started like 2 years ago.
Currently I'm at the beginning of Act 4.

Pretty excited to get to Act 5, since that's when everything starts to get interesting.

I tried to like it, I really did, but after a few hundred pages, I felt like I wasted my time.

I'm not going to say it was bad, because I certainly understand the appeal. The problem is that I just can't grasp it myself. At first I was like "heh, this is kind of funny" but it eventually devolved into "why am I still reading this?"

:x

it doesn't hep that I encountered the fandom, and they just killed any bit of love I had for the series.

I felt like that. But something kept compelling me to read it.
And I'm glad I did.
I made so many new internet friends.

I used to read it (I was quite active in the MSPA forums but not much anywhere else in the fandom) before the first sort of major break. Then I didn't get back into it and now I find that the huge break is disgraceful. I get that the team is working on the game and whatnot (are they really?) and that the story is supposed to end in one go, but really it looks more like they took the money and left.
I donated a ... consequent amount to the Kickstarter for the game and although I did recieve my merch I'm starting to doubt I'll ever see my game, and I don't get any regular mails about the dev of it which I was promised. I love to support kickstarter projects and this one was a major let down.

That said my favorite character is Vriska because she is a badass and I am a scorpio.

So this just got shared on my Facebook, it's fan made and apparently took 4 years? Pretty cool, when I was still interested in Homestuck I was dying to see this scene.

I really liked Homestuck until Act 6 started. Everything after that felt very stale and boring, and I wasn't a big fan of the Alpha trolls or the Alpha kids (JaneRoxy was my otp tho).

I still don't know what Homestuck is.

I remember reading about it, and thinking I had found it, and spent like an hour clicking through a series of texts describing some nerdy guy in his room doing completely random and pointless stuff. I didn't have the patience to sit through it, but to this day I'm not even sure if that's what Homestuck even is.

No, you found it. That's the beginning. Tbh it doesn't really inspire one to read further.

I used to be really into it but then I just dropped out of it and fell way behind and didn't bother catching up
the fandom kind of scared me away too, but it seems to have dropped off the face of the earth since this long hiatus began

I am asking earnestly, how did it acquire such a huge following? Did that many people really suffer through that insufferable introduction? Who got far enough to decide it was any good, and how did so many people agree to check it out?

It became huge when the troll characters were introduced. Their designs attracted a lot of attention. Some fans read since the beginning to understand the actual story and others just picked up when the trolls first appeared.
