Hobbies are throwing off my island plans

This just made me realise why no one sings in my town anymore and the instruments I left out have been completely ignored! I have no music villagers on my island.

Thankfully, I've decided to invite Marshal in by amiibo this week, because I got fed up with waiting for Nana to leave, and it turns out his hobby is music!

I currently have 3 X play, 3 X fashion, 2 X nature and 2 X education!

Does play = zooming around? Anything else?
 
I like the play hobby and music hobby, personally and wouldn't mind of all of my villagers were either singing or running around like fools.

It's important to note that sometimes villagers do take on alternate hobbies. I assume Jitters has started to take on the fashion hobby because he keeps commenting on what I'm wearing every time I talk to him. (And then I wonder "Why do you even care, jock?" lol)

Honestly that's a good point! Like loud versus soft hobbies.
 
Well if you're undecided on a peppy you can try to pick one with the fashion hobby so you have at least 1 of every hobby.

Yeah that's what I'm probably going to do. I'm undecided on peppy and snooty so this might help make that decision haha
 
Yes, I was in exactly the same situation last night when I found out about hobbies! I've been wondering why none of my current villagers run around. It's because I had none with play as their hobby since I got rid of Egbert and Kevin. I've changed my plans a little to give myself 2 play, 2 nature, 1 fitness, 1 fashion, the rest are all music. I don't mind as I love it when they sing randomly! I'm trying to find myself a cranky who's got education as a hobby but I don't like any of them so far.

I'm def biased but Wolfgang is my favorite cranky and he's education!
 
I currently have: no education, one fashion, one fitness (why is audie fitness lol), three music, three nature, two play. I don’t mind not having an education villager. I’m currently deciding between Fang or Apollo being my cranky. Frang is education and Apollo is music. I think music is the cutest hobby~

Yeah I have Fuchsia and Pietro who are both music and they're so cute!!! Singing buddies!
 
This makes so much more sense now!! I always saw Chief singing and I was like “hmm.. it doesn’t fit a cranky” but now I get it’s his hobby. Thanks for sharing! C:

does anyone know if only certain villagers will interact with outside furniture? I have a little place set up with instruments and a record player and I never see any villagers play them. Is it due to their hobbies or do I just miss it?

Oh I totally get that! I have Wolfgang and Audie right now actually. I have been kinda unhappy with having two wolves and it was actually Audie's hobby being fitness that has kinda nudged me to let her go. Love her though
 
I'm similar as well! I have a smallish variety, no fashion or play though. I'm not too bothered about the fashion one but it makes me want to change a villager so I could have one with play x.x
 
Oh wow, I just looked up the hobbies of my planned villagers, as I didn't even think about this! I have a pretty even spread!

The seven villagers I know will be in my town permanently are as followed:
Kiki - education
Ribbot - fitness
Sylvana - Nature
Diana - education
Pippy - fashion
Julian - music
Bianca - play



My last three spots are up in the air, but I'm considering someone with each hobby except fitness.
 
My villagers are predominantly music (5 of them!). The rest are 2 nature, 1 fitness, 1 fashion, and 1 play. Seems I'm missing education, but I love my villagers too much to boot one for the books. :)
 
i don't have any play villagers currently and it makes me so sad, i just want to watch cute lil animals do zoomies all the time! i'm currently considering switching some villagers out though so maybe i'll get some more zoomies :D
 
I'm honestly surprised to find out that Anabelle's hobby is fashion.
The only thing that she does constantly is exercise, so I would of thought that her hobby would be fitness. :unsure:
