I've been wondering is there some type of cable to connect it from the TV to my laptop and then it records like a normal DVD Recorder...

Xyoh im sorry to say but i dont know. BUT there is somthing called a Dazzle dvd recorder you can get that.

Sounds like you want a Capture Card, I recommend Dazzle. They can get a little pricy though, look into it.
