What I'm bothered by, but find funny is that if you find the second villager he or she say I have to find one more.
How do they know I already found one of them?

It's like in Ocarina of Time when you rescue the carpenters from their prison and when you rescue the second one
he says "twee of my fellow carpenters are still locked up". He somehow knows you already rescued one or more of them.
