Hey guys! So I'm currently in my last semester of university and working a part time internship. I don't have much time for ACNL, unfortunately. :c But I also have 80% of my dream villagers.

I've seen a post floating around tumblr that if you plan to not play AC for a while to take note of the in-game date. Then when you get back to playing just TT back to it to prevent villagers from moving out. My question is if anyone's tried this. Or if there's another way to prevent villager loses.

Thanks for the help! <3

I've heard of people doing it that way, and it seems to work. I personally stop playing on a day that a villager says they are moving. I tell them to stay, then I put the game away for as long as I want. I have 6 towns, and can't possibly play them all. I have not lost a villager in over two years by doing this.

Also, the other method is a good idea if you want to play the days you've missed. Make sure you have the beautiful town ordinance if you do the method I mentioned. That way, you won't have so many weeds and your flowers won't die. It takes a day for the ordinance to go into affect, so don't get the ordinance and stop playing on that day, or you'll come back to all your hybrids being gone.

I often go back to the date I left off, my town's still in spring and I should really do something about that but it's fine for now.

During a more planned hiatus I turned down a villager move request, set the 3ds time to Halloween (the day I planned to end my hiatus, I picked a holiday to make it easy to remember but you can just write something down), and loaded a new character to confirm no move outs and have my mayor say hi to everyone to get the 'haven't seen you in forever' dialog out of the way, then I put the game away and set the 3ds time back to normal so when Halloween rolled around I was able to get right in without having to catch up to everything.

Well I just learned about the method of telling a villager not to leave and then go on hiatus. I did that about two months ago and surprisingly no one moved! Last year, I also went through months of not playing acnl, so I also did the method of changing the time to the last time I played, and go through every other day (like I'll play one day I missed, then skip ahead a day or two, then go to another day to see if anyone moved). Both methods work well, you just gotta decide what method is better for you.

Just remember or make a note about that last day you played the game (the in-game date) and then when you pick the game up again just have Isabelle set the clock back to that day.

You could TT back to when you last played, but you could also stop someone from moving (as in they ping you and tell you they want to move and you say no) and then not play, and no one will move. This way you don't have to TT to the current date

Yah, I currently have a full time job and don't have time to play as much as I used to, so I take note of my last play dates and if its been over 3days I'll TT back :blush: I also control two different towns from the same DS (hard copy and downloaded copy), my main town is back in April so I could have the right season for my dream address, and my cycling town is in October so I always need to be incredibly diligent with dates when loading up depending on which town I want.

I've done a lot in one of my extra towns. I'm happy with how it's decorated and made sure to stop a mover.
Take a picture of the date, write the last day played in the game notes on the 3DS or stick a label on the ACNL box with the information.

When I have time I just go back to that date and play with the villagers. A sunny day is helpful for badges if you leave the town on the same date forever. The mayor was able to visit one of my other town for the K. K. Slider badge. She received the badges when she returned.

I left the game with the intention of doing the TT method when I had time for it again... and I totally forgot which date I stopped lol. It's been almost half a year since I played so I'm sure I'll screw it up if I go on it again lol.

You could just go back long before you stopped! I took a break sometime in April and just TT'd back to March to make sure it was safe. Except I'm still in April, haha ^.^;;

I use the TT to catch up method. Works great since I'm bored of the game and almost never play anymore. I play so rarely that I'm going to have to TT back about a year and 2 weeks to get to that day after last play date.

Ah this is helpful, I recently got back into acnl and though I do love it, I know I won't be able to go on every single day and that I'll end up being busy with other things like homework, exams, etc. like any other person my age would. I'll keep this in mind next time I have to take a break :)
