'Hi, I'm Chester from Hell'

I adopted Chester yesterday from a very lovely trader. However, once I got to the town I saw it was named 'Hell' and the Mayor was 'Devil'. Now I look forward to hearing things like, "When I lived in Hell, there was a guy named Devil. He was a real time traveler." I don't know, I just hate to think of Chester always referring to himself as living in Hell, especially when my town is named Toyland and dedicated to happiness and light. But I didn't want to not adopt him. I am thinking now I will transfer him to another town of mine so that he will be Chester from Toyland, rather than Chester from Hell. I kind of wish the trader (who again, was lovely and very friendly) had warned me ahead of time just so I could have decided if I was comfortable with Chester talking about Hell all the time :)

It got me to thinking, what is the worst named town you have ever adopted a villager from?

I got an animal via streetpass...from ****land....

I got Freckles from the same trader! I'm looking forward to Freckles talking about her hometown lol

Haha! I've had a void from a town named "Sin" once. :)
The others were pretty normal names like Rainbow, Bun, etc.
They don't talk about their old towns that much, do they? Mine only do it like once a week or something. So I wouldn't go through the trouble just for that. Unless you're very very religious and are bothered by the mention of the name devil, there is. I'm agnostic, so...
 
i don't adopt villagers for precisely this reason. i don't like to have them talk about previous towns or mayors, no matter what they are called. it even bothers me when my villagers mention my alt characters, especially the one who is supposed to be a recluse. :rolleyes:

It's funny I even have an issue with it since I'm actually a practicing pagan and witch. And I have friends who are practicing Luciferians. So religion isn't the issue at all. Had Chester moved into my occult towns of Tarot or Corividae, I wouldn't have minded at all, lol. But since I moved him into this cutesy, mundane-themed vanilla town I just didn't want him mentioning Hell or the Devil. I'm weird, I know. But it just throws the aesthetic all off. I actually have boxed him up and am moving him to Tarot! He will do well there :)

I don't think I've adopted villagers from unique town names such as Hell or using profanity, but it is annoying when they always bring up their town tune. Like is that all that villagers have to talk about?

Although my town, Scrolwrk, could be one for this topic. Not so much the name, but all of my villagers' shirts have a bloody design if they choose to put it on. I did make sure that if I traded a villager who had a pattern shirt like that, then I would go to Isabelle before the trade to have her change their shirt. Just out of respect for the person receiving the villager. Now I don't plan on giving away anymore of my villagers from that town so...

I feel sorry that this has happened, but it's brilliant.
 
My Wolfgang is from Hell. He always whistles and goes "Oh. That's the town tune of Hell."
 
I once adopted a villager - had NO IDEA what the town was from - they said Gates are open - all I remember is I was horribly offended by the name. It was very offensive - Hell is a shocking name if you
Aren?t prepared for it. I was really upset. That was over 2 years ago and was the second villager I had adopted from TBT.

The name of the town? I do not recall! It was something similar to Hell - Possibly My Butt, UglyFart, something like that but even more vulgar. I was so shocked. The mayor had the worst name I had ever seen. I felt trapped but I didn?t want to get in trouble for cancelling the trade.

I remember being as nice to the villager but ultimately I tried to readopt them but the person cancelled the trade at the last minute. I was so upset about the whole thing I reset the whole town and I placed all those residents into perpetual slumber.

That was when I created a cycling town - Mayor Eve of Eden. I tried to make it the opposite of what I experienced!
 
Ummm...

I have 2 villagers and had 1 villager adopted from someone who used to be a thing like called bf or something. What's so annoying is, these 3 cuties, who I love too much to void, talk about... about UGHHHH *sigh* a name of a certain town. A town which A certain woman owned. A woman who this bf thing cheated on me with. I do truly wish they didn't bring this town up.
But I'm too lazy to transport them and do a 16 cycling and get them back to where they are now...

Maybe can't you think like this? Chester talks about it because he's happy that he WAS in hell and now being a member of Toyland!
 
I find that hilarious, tbh xD But yeah, you can just move it to another town then move back if that really bothers you. I don't think it will matter to me, personally, except if the town's name is "aaaaa" or some random characters that you can't read or doesn't make sense.
 
Not sure if this counts but I once picked up a villager from someone's void who told me that he used to live in "My Mind"... Not horrible by any stretch, just a little odd...
 
I haven't traded villagers on my current town since I ordered my dreamies amiibo cards to make sure I could always have them. I do wonder if anyone ever accidentally picked up any of my old villagers and wonder what to make of Koholint.

On a side note, Mayor Devil from Hell has offered to procure my wishlist items, so I'm a little bit amused by this coincidence.

Honestly, I’d be pretty peeved if I adopted from someone and the host failed to mention something like that.
