I'm hoping I can post this here, but I didn't see where else to.

Hello, I got my first copy of Animal Crossing: New Leaf on New Years eve, so my first experience was the fireworks show, lol... so that was cool. I've never played an AC game before, and so far I'm enjoying it.

I first played on the save that was already on the cart, since I wanted to watch the fireworks, but also mess around in an older town to see what was up, even though it really wasn't that advanced. Even though the person who played that save did a lot of time traveling. I had to reset the clock back to the correct date, since it was all the way in June of 2019, just so I could see the fireworks, lol...

That being said, after deleting the save data I did set up for potential TT myself... and from what I've been reading some people look down on that kinda stuff, but when I get a new game I kinda obsess for the first few weeks then back off on the playing. Although I feel like I gave myself too much wiggle room with setting the year to 2017...

I'm still having to look up a ton of stuff on the net to know what's what in the game, but I like the map layout I have and the villagers aren't bad. Although, when I picked out my map I knew exactly where I was going to place a bridge and the very next day, well I was still living in a tent, a villager reserved a plot exactly where I was going to build it and then a week later someone moved directly across river from them... so... yeah... that is currently my biggest problem in my game, lol... I didn't have enough forethought and place tiles down to reserve the spots.

Anyways, I thought that signing up to a forum like this would be a good idea, because I feel like this game would be more fun playing with a community~ So I'm hoping to get to know some people, and if you have any advice for me I'll be happy to get it.

P.S.
Is it normal for villagers to switch, or copy catch phrases with others? A few of them have done that now and it is really catching me off guard...

Hi! Welcome to the forum! It definitely makes the game more appealing and fun by joining a forum. There’s
Many advantages. I’ve traded bought and given away villagers in this forum. You can also trade and buy items to use in game, and get many ideas from other mayors on how to make your town better.

For the time traveling quetion, some people do look down on it, but a big number of people here do the time traveling option (I’m one of them).

As far as the villagers that planted themselves in bad places , you always try to get them to move out and then plant a path so no one else sits themselves at that location.

It is also completely normal for a villager to switch catchphrases. If they give you a nickname, they will also spread and they all start calling you the nickname. Same thing goes with clothing. If you change one of their shirts, they might all start wearing the same shirt.

Welcome and good luck with your town!

I think you'll find this to be a very nice and helpful community, so if you have any questions or need anything, just ask.

That's unfortunate about the villagers moving right where you wanted to put a bridge, but as long as you're not super attached to them, all you have to do is wait for them to move out. Since you said you plan to time travel, that might not take too long. Of course, as soon as they're gone, cover the spot in patterns to prevent someone new from plopping down in the same area.

It's quite natural for villagers to share their catchphrases and clothing with each other. Sometimes you'll see them walking around, singing and dancing after they interact with each other and pick something up from the other one. It can be cute, but also annoying at times if you don't like the catchphrase or shirt. But like all trends, it tends to fade if you give it time. Then, they'll pick up something new to spread across your town. :p

I still haven't gotten how to get them to move, but I'm also the kind of person that feels bad if I'm mean or ignore them just to make them leave... I guess if they just come up to me and tell me they are planning on moving I'll wish them well, but I don't think I'll try and force them.

Hello welcome to the fourms! :)

Thank you very much~

Thanks~ I'm sure I will if I can get myself active enough. I've haven't been active in any community for a few years now, so I'm a little out of practice, lol...

I've been doing some time skipping, only going forward though since I don't like the idea of going back. But I only do that once I finished all the daily stuff and I still want to play. I have only skipped a few days more then today's date, so it's not like I'm being aggressive about it, lol...

I haven't actually seen my villagers talk to each other yet. But they have been changing style a lot. Though Ed it super stalker-ish when it comes to my character, wanting to copy my style and always wants my attention, lol...
