Hemisphere issues???

Eh it seems to be a common misconception! I can understand it, as someone who moved from US to Australia, it really is weird to experience Christmas in the summer lmao
I bet! As someone who loves showy Christmas and crisp/cool Halloween, I'd be thrown for a loop haha.

It's equally weird/horrid being an Aussie and having to suffer unnatural snow during what should be summer, at Christmas.
I find that really interesting!! Its cool to see another perspective since I've always associated Christmas with winter

Holidays are tied to months rather than season. I think it's really hard to remember that for most if not everyone up north because we tie in our seasons with the holiday itself. You see it alot in marketing, tv and movies. Really makes me curious on how those in the south think about all the Christmas and Halloween movies/specials where snow and autumn leaves are a huge part of the spirit of those holidays.

I'm actually from the SH (not because I moved, always lived here) and it's not weird or out of place for me, Christmas is in december and very much celebrated, has been all my life... It ends the year (our school year actually starts on february after the summer).
Halloween is not much of a thing where I'm from tho (but it is still obviously on the same date), I'm curious about how Nintendo is going to play it in the spring.
Of course Christmas is associated with snow, but that has been incorporated to the propaganda of the holiday and doesn't make much of a difference, I'm used to the winter/summer mix. It's hot, we do barbecues, stay up late outside, dress up with light dresses on Christmas Eve, eat a big dinner with family, exchange presents at midnight and that's it.. The traditions adapt a little, but it would make no sense to change the dates

I am curious about what southern hemisphere think but typically when I see these threads it is made by a northern hemisphere player worried for the southern hemisphere player. If they do response to the thread they split on if they care or not.

About this, I do care a bit about the updates being focused on the North, but that's a whole other subject I will not start lol

As a Southern Hemisphere person it won't bother me at all if the next update is Halloween focused/Halloween is in October for everyone regardless of season. The thing that bothers me a bit is when the updates are season based. Diving was clearly added for the summer bois/and when they add brewsters' it'll be to cater the north in the colder months. It isn't a big deal though, there's still fish to get in the winter, and I drink coffee all year around not just to warm up. I just think if they want us to have a choice with the hemisphere we play in then they should probably add a few things in for both hemispheres in the updates (the cafe would've been perfect to go along side diving).

I'm playing northern even though I'm in Oz too, but you can dive all year round.

That update was for everyone.

this was the part of the update that made me the most hyped tbh

i was about to be completely devastated over having to travel just to see these fireworks shows but!!! thank god!

Yeah, it's really weird sometimes. I have a southern hemisphere island and we have winter and frozen DIYs but also Pascal and mermaid items. I'm just glad that we will get to have cherry blossoms and jack in October rather than have cherry blossom season happening along with bunny day.

Spring during Halloween, Summer during Christmas, Autumn during Easter... welcome to the Southern Hempishere in real life 😁 Ya'll NHers with SH islands who find it weird, us SHers have lived it our whole lives. I do think Nintendo shouldn't name their updates "Summer update" or "Fall update" though because it adds to the confusion.

Each hemisphere gets the same update no matter where you are Halloween is in October. Just like Bunny day will always be in April no matter the season. No hemisphere is left out.

i find all the NH and SH talk funny as i grew up so close to the equator it was just summer all year long. i feel like us tropical fish get forgotten about a lot haha. living now more up north, seasons are so weird to me and especially how sunset and sunrise times change so much
