Help with voided villagers?

I was keeping Zucker in boxes for another user on here.
Zucker left somehow, without me knowing, even though I didn't advance a day.
Just a couple hours backward.

Can this person still somehow manage to pick him up from my void?
How does that work?
Does he have to be in my mainstreet for this to happen or does it have to be a freshly voided villager.
I've only voided two villagers from this town and I want him to get Zucker...

A new day starts at 6AM so did you TT past that?

Make sure no one visits you at all. Let that person who was supposed to get Zucker visit you, then you go visit them just as a precaution.

The rest is up to luck and hopefully the other person hasn't visited other towns as well.

I didn't TT past that at all. It was almost midnight and I went back a couple hours prior, making sure I didn't advance in any way whatsoever. I go back as my mayor and he's gone. :/ I don't understand what happened? I've held villagers in boxes for days, even a week, at a time, and I've never lost one and I feel so awful about it.

He just visited me and now I'm going to visit him, hopefully to double our chances of him getting him, and hope for the best. :/
