I’ve been playing Animal Crossing New Horizons for about 2 months now. I really want to be able to visit other islands (in real life, not in a dream) but I can’t work out how to do it! I’ve looked all over the internet and I’m just getting confused! What is the difference between friend codes and Dodo codes? I’ve tried inputting dodo codes that I’ve found in a forum but it always says that there’s a problem. I’d really like to find some fruits (not peaches or cherries) and get some inspiration and ideas for my island, but I really can’t work out how to do it! Any advice? Thank you!

Hiya, I'm open for stars just now. I can send you a dodo in a pm if you want to try visit, and you are welcome to pick the fruits you need from my trees
You will need to go to the airport and choose search with dodo. The dodo is like a one time visit and is only valid as long as someone still has their gates open. It's good for doing one off trades with people.

So in a nutshell: Friend Codes are people you add to your Switch system. If they have their airport open, you will see the option with Orville that said island is ready to be visited. Likewise you can also open your airport and a friend can visit if you have each others friend codes added.

Dodo Codes are temporary codes sent by non-friends, people who aren't in your Switch. Random strangers. It's more used when you don't want to add someone, but still want to visit them or host them to your own island. Think it like a promo code to a website. It only works while the user's airport is open, or yours.

I hope my explanations wasn't too complicated! :)
