Help With My Wii!

There's a block sale going on right now, and I bought Mario Party for the GameCube. I went into my house, and tried putting the disk into my Wii. But as soon as I put in the disk, the Wii started making some weird buzzing noise, and then ejected the game. What the heck is wrong with it? I thought GameCube games were compatible with the Wii...
