Help with grass erosion.

Ohhhh boy am I sick of grass erosion. I started the watering method and it is doing nothing in most spots of my town; some of the spots I'm watering are even getting worse! At this point I'm really considering the TT method, but I'm still scared to do it. I just don't know how to do it properly without losing villagers or screwing my game up.

I started another thread about a week ago asking for help with TTing and I did get a lot of good advice but I'm still unsure. Are there any experienced time travellers here that can give me advice on how to do it properly without having something bad happen? I just really really really don't want to lose any of my villagers. Also, what are other dangers to TTing, if there are any? One of the reasons I'm so hesitant to do it because I TTed a few times in a row back when I played Wild World and afterwords I noticed I could no longer order from the catalogue! Is there any chance of that happening in this game, or other similar repercussions? I kind of know the general way to do TT, but I need someone to tell me EXACTLY how to do it so I don't screw it up. And I also think today would be a good day to do it because a villager pinged me today to ask to move and I said no, so I think today would be good just so I don't have to wait for another ping. Also, I have a fairly oldish copy of the game and I have no idea if that has anything to do with anything, but best to be cautious.

My town is about 60% dirt and 40% grass. LOL. There's NO grass around my house. It looks awful, but I'm not a path person and flowers only cover so much. Oh, well.

Beautiful ordinance doesnt affect the grass erosion, placing patterns down only covers the grass erosion (it does not prevent it), and i believe if you change the date of your system clock (not game clock) 1 year forward, you can see whoever is moving next by making a new character. if someone is moving, check who's house is missing and that's who's moving next. if no house is missing, no one is moving, it is then safe to TT forward (doesnt matter how much you want to TT, but keep checking in the future)

Okay so all you have to do is this: play until a villager pings you to move - refuse them - save and quit the game immediately.
After that, you can tt as far forward in the future as you like, months even, and you villagers won't be effected.

I'd like to stress that this is only true following you turning down a villager. Going forward like that any other time would definitely mess up your town.

Does it have to happen immediately afterwards, or can it be sometime during that same day? My villager pinged me a little while ago, so I want to be sure.

i can confirm that this works too. so as long as you can figure out whoever is moving, refuse them and TT as far as you'd like to remove the erosion.

After TTing forward, you can TT back to the present date again without having to worry about villagers moving because the game will count that as *the current date, as if you never TT'd forward at all*

I've heard that planting a tree really helps. Also need help with the erosion in my town, it's gotten so bad since I didn't know it was a possibility and I ran all over my town in the winter when snow was on the ground.

I just tried planting a tree in eroded spots, but I'd be really pleased if that did help, since I just started doing that a couple days ago. Was that a myth?

true i guess..because you wont be able to walk through trees therefore no grass erosion XD

It helps, but TT'ing backwards for any period only counts as one day, even if you go years. So they won't move out immediately if you TT backwards, but be sure to talk to everyone once you get back to the present date.

Quick question: does it matter what time of day/tight I TT to or from? For example, right now for me it's 6:30 so if I TTed to 5 months in the future and to around 10 in the morning, would that be a bad thing or no?

Okay, great ^^ I'm glad for all of your help! I'll probably do it a bit later at night and change the time to day so it'll be easier to see whether or not the erosion is all gone. I hope it works for me!

Recently I TTed forward about a week (6 days to be exact) ahead (after denying a villager move request) and I could see most of my grass erosion went away and started growing grass on those spots. It wasn't completely green, I could still see s brown-star shape(?) but yeah, 4-5 months should be plenty time to get all the grass back to green.

Also- TTing backwards, no matter how far, only count as TTing for one day so you don't really have to worry about villager/dreamie moving away. Well, it shouldn't hurt to double make sure by denying a move request before you TT back (if you're super cautious like I am xD).

I'm definitely going to make sure no ones moving 'cause I know if I didn't something would screw up xD And it's always better to be safe than sorry. I'm really very glad that none of my villagers will move away!
