Help with a Nook Miles Rewards

Hey!

So, apparently there's a Nook Miles Reward called "Rock-Splitting Champ" or something like that, but for some reason I can't unlock it. I've read somewhere that the requirement is breaking a rock and somewhere else that the requirement is getting 8 items from a rock, but I've done both of those things several times since I started.. Does anybody know what's wrong or something I could try to unlock it?

The achievement is for hitting a single rock 8 times in a row. If you've done that then I'm not sure why it won't unlock for you. Are you digging holes behind yourself to prevent being knocked back? Like this:

Yep, I do that every time. There has to be a bug on my game or something, because I can't for the life of me think of anything else to do.
