I'm pretty new to bushes and landscaping. I thought bushes would be able to grow where the two dead ones are. Can anyone tell me why those spots are bad? Thanks!

maybe add the path after the bushes have grown
In one of my towns i have a 2 rows of bushes which grew side by side to each other (see below) which does not have any path around it

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll try erasing some of the pattern and try again. I have a feeling that's a "no grow" zone though. I just read on a different forum that they need to be two spaces away from the front of the house. I might have to do flowers or mushrooms or something there instead.

Yes, it's because it's too close to the house. You only need 1 space on the sides and back of a house, but 2 spaces in front. I know this because I tried to grow bamboo in front of my house and faced the same issue. I had to plant it 2 spaces away and then it grew in just fine. Patterns or paths shouldn't have any affect on growing things.
