I played ACNL this morning and all was normal. I just turned it back on right now and my date was set to November 11th, 2015. I do not time travel. I've played this game pretty consitantly since its release and I JUST bought 1,000,000 bells worth of turnips, so I'm pretty ****ed up about this. I checked my DS's date, which wasn't set at all somehow. The date WAS correct before this happened, but it somehow reset. My DS was closed and I made absolutely no changes to it myself. I set the DS date to the appropriate time and now my ACNL date is March 6, 2022. What the *** just happened?! I'm so devastated... Has this happened before to anyone else?...

This type of glitch actually constantly happened to my little brother's 3DS. This happened back when I had to use his 3DS because I didn't have one of my own. My NL game kept going backwards and forwards days at a time due to the date changing. It seems to be a constant problem with a lot of 3DS with no solution just yet. Sorry this happened to you :(

Really? That's a really bad glitch for a gaming system to have, let alone one of Nintendo's systems. I have a N3DS, so I've never even heard of this happening.

My brother's 3DS's time would constantly change an hour back then the actual time. He would change it back to normal but everytime he turned it on, it would be back to an hour behind again. It's weird. S:

I don't have an answer for you but just letting you know that it's not just you!

Do you have any siblings?

Nope.

That's terrible :( Thanks for your input and the sympathy

Are you due for a system update? :c

No, I just updated for the first time recently because I never had wifi before. I never had an issue with this before in the past.

I never actually contiued my game. If I set it to the date it was when I last played, will everything be okay? Or is it already messed up?

as long as you didn't load your town, yes. the acnl clock moves based on your ds clock. all you gotta do is tell isabelle you need help, set the time and date appropriately, and it's all good. your ds clock doesn't change from it.

"One common problem where people unintentionally TT is when they have their 3DS clock set wrong (which can happen when the battery fully dies, it gets reset to far in the past), then the start up AC, and see the date is wrong. Then they fix it in AC, which creates a HUGE forward offset for the game.

Later on, they might see the 3DS clock is wrong and fix that one, too. But now AC will be far into the future because of it's set offset. If this isn't noticed, you'll log in and find you're years in the future."

I believe this is exactly what happened, but my battery didn't die. However, it was mysteriouly turned off and I never turn off my DS. But the battery was 3/4 bars full when I turned it on.

You are correct. Thank you so much for ending my paranoia!

if you change the date on your 3ds it will change in animal crossing new leaf...

learned that the hard way which sucks

but this seems really weird and strange I hope you get the problem fixed

The only thing I can think of that happened was that your battery fell loose. My DSi had that problem. I would just turn it on and it would be January 1, at 00:00. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

Hmm.. seems so

I came back here to update on what's happening. My DS has shut off on its own 3 times today. No dead battery.

I would probably contact nintendo about that - seems like theres a problem with the batteries connection. When did you buy the system, and from where?

2013, purchased new from GameStop. It's pretty old for a device in this "must get the brand new thing every 6 months" generation. It hasn't had a problem for the rest of the day and night, but my laptop decided to stop working now, so that's a new dilemma. I have very terrible luck.

aye dios mio. Good luck with both items! I know how tough that can be.

I'd still contact nintendo, at the very least they might be able to tell you what the problem seems to be, for sure. Might be cheaper/easier to buy a newer one than get this one fixed.

I hope you can get it figured out, and make sure you're saving while you're playing and try not to set it down and walk away for a long time.

My ds time would only ever reset or change if the battery completely died, never heard of such a glitch but that's really bad :(
I always loved Nintendo systems for being so robust :(
