i have welcome amiibo and i have left 5 3x3 spaces but villagers refuse to move there instead they move on top of my patterns i thought they couldn't do that in the update!? there is no space for them to put their house other than the 3 by 3 spaces but they keep moving on my paths is this a bug can someone please help!?

i would post a picture but i cant because my r button broke off and i cannot take any pictures and i dunno how else to upload my predicament online

Something similar happened to me but the second time I tried it the paths were all from my mayor and it worked no problem so maybe that?s why the villager keeps going on your paths? Are the paths that you laid down from a side character?

Maybe try only using ones from your mayor? In my second town I never had an issue with it because my mayor is the only character I have and in my first town the first time I tried it they were from both and a villager plotted in my paths but the second time they were all from my mayor and the villager didn?t try to plot on them once.
**I don?t know if this for sure is the solution to your problem but this is what has worked for me

i will try to use only my mayor's paths and see if it works thanks for the help:D

btw the patterns the villager moved on top of were from my mayor i dunno if that means anything

Oh my I keep hearing people say that villagers move in on their paths.... and I didn?t think that it has to be mayor paths because don?t people always use 2nd characters for more QR codes anyway?

But I thought since the update they won?t move in on paths

Btw this is better than just 3x3 spaces:

In case that’s not what you’re doing. Also are you sure about the open 5x5 space not having pwps?

hmm that's strange. i've only heard of it happening when there's no space for a villager to plot, but you've clearly made spaces so.
it's hard to tell sans pictures i think, maybe you can post a DA and someone can go check it out or inv someone.

here's my DA i have deleted all secondary characters and only left my brother's which is the mayor.
hopefully someone can pinpoint the problem

I don't have access to Dream Suite, mostly because still creating my new town, but the current AI of plotting makes it so if your chosen plot isn't acceptable, it will shift a few tiles away, overriding any tiles.

but what exactly would make it count as unacceptable some villagers have moved in my plots they are not too close to any houses, pwps, ponds, cliffs, rocks, or rivers

i just visited your dream town. it's because between villagers' homes, you need **2** spaces between the houses, and you've only allotted for one space.

so you know the plot next to elvis' home? that's a good amount of distance. the reason it doesn't work is because there's only one space between the plot you want, and stitches' house.

i like the resident area sign and idea :)

Basically the only decent way I can explain it is while the house is a 3x3 plot, the actual plot is a 5x5 plot, as you have to account for the tiles AROUND the house as well. The same applies to PWPs.

I can see a possibility between Dora's house and Antonio's. Other than that it's just like what moonchu said about the other spaces.

wish someone couldve told me sooner ive got some villagers that i dont want to move i'll figure something out

Thank you so much for telling me this!!!:lemon:

There's always some hurdles you've gotta get over first. Nothing's easy first try. When I first did the pattern plotting trick, I forgot ONE area and Skye REFUSED to get away from there. I made it work, though.

yeeaaaaah it's definitely finicky! i made a spot a 4x3 and erik absolutely refused to move over the one space, he was always on the right when i wanted him to go one left! i had to go back in time to before he moved, make the 3x3 exactly, cover up any other spots, and try to plot him again. it was rage inducing.
