Hello!

Is this normal or was I hacked or something?

We had an opening for a new villager on our island because after MONTHS of waiting our most annoying villager split. We didn't go snag a new villager right away because we were being picky. Then we didn't play the game for 2 days. We open up the game this morning and some smug bird named Phil has just set up his house and is chillin' on my island! He was not invited. Is this because I didn't play for 2 days...and he came to the campsite day one and moved in on day two? How does the game go on if I'm not playing?! Super frustrating.

This is normal - if you have an open house plot and don't invite a specific villager in, you'll get a random move-in instead.

That's normal. When you don't fill the plot by inviting someone from a mystery island, the campsite or someone else's island the game fill the plot automatically with a random villager or a voided one

Happened to me with Phil too. Sorry, he's a jerk. Hope he leaves you soon. I think I was able to get him out in a month. (I don't TT.)

Phil just moved in to my New Horizons town oh my gosh... Well, I like his design and the idea, but he’s not a dream villager of mine though I was considering him. Well, hopefully we can just get him to move or find someone who wants him.

Like they have said before, this is normal. You only have one day with an empty plot in order to fill it or it gets filled for you unfortunately.
