Tried to open my animal crossing game and it keeps going to the loading screen, then saying there is an error and restarting my DS. What do I do? I've worked so hard on my town :(

It just says 'an error has occurred, forcing the software to close. The system will now restart'

do you by chance have another 3ds you could put the cartridge in? if so try it out in there. if not im sorry but it might be corrupted (most likely not! it might just be a little fluke!). Try doing some old style and blow on the cartridge and in the little cartridge port.

It's most likely digital if there are issues.

Okay, Snocks, DON'T PANIC! You should be able to re-download ACNL without losing your save data - odds are the game just got a little corrupted on the SD card. Now, whatever you do, do not try to back-up your save data and use that as then the game will force you to erase your save data and you're stuffed.

Tried it in my sisters DS and it still doesn't work?

Oh. It is a cartridge. Welp, contact Nintendo. It's their problem if their cartridge doesn't work properly.

Ahhh, yeah probably. I just know when I had ACCF it wouldnt work in one wii but it worked on the other. Just trying to help! Hope it works out for you Snocks!

I mean I've only had this town for about a week as I just started a new one, but still, I've made a lot of progress :(

I don't mind getting a new copy, but I'm just confused as to why it's broken? Ahh well :(

Hmm. Your signature image is broken by the way.

Perhaps try going to the system settings (last page) and checking for any system updates? It's a bit of a long-shot, but you might just be running some broken firmware version at the moment or something. Still seems unlikely.
Oh yeah, and if you've never updated it before for some bizarre reason, ignore the 18+ thing - it's nonsense.

Yeah I noticed that, I shall fix my signature.

Also, I shall see if there is an update :3

Nope, no new updates :( I did think I updated recently.

Thanks for your help anyway, I'll see what I can do and hopefully I can get it fixed. If it comes to it, I'll just buy the digital copy but I hope it doesn't come to that. :(

Lick the cartridge

It works, I have a horribly scratched Majora's Mask and licking it makes it work

Really

But this person has a problem with it just not loading successfully, rather than not being recognised. Also, licking your cartridge works because the salt in your saliva makes it conductive, but you're doing damage to your cartridge in the process for the same reason as they advised you don't blow on your NES cartridges. Sure, most of them survived but that's not quite that same as sticking your tongue in them.

I heard that conductive ink can work quite well for making your cartridges work reliably again, although I can't find any really cheap options (http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/circuitworks-conductive-pen-standard-tip-n73aa). You could always try using sellotape to make the cartridge press against the contacts harder which is what I did for Space Invaders Extreme. :P

I would contact nintendo stat, is there a video game specialist where you live? that's a bit extreme but if you're desperate they could probably take a look at it. is your game hacked?

Lol that actually sounds like a bad idea tbh
Both the oils in your skin and water/saliva are corrosive to electronics, probably wouldn't recommend it.
Maybe it worked in your case though because your cartridge was dusty/dirty and you actually cleaned it or something lol
