Help! Moving your character from one cartridge to another

I have a question. I recently made a second character on my first copy of new leaf but I want to move her to my new copy of the game. If I reset to get map options, will it delete the transferred character and all of it's information? Is there a safe way to get a good town map AND transfer my character? Or do I basically have to make her again on the new cartridge to map select again?

I don't think you can transfer characters, sorry!

You can if it's not a mayor character.

I am not sure what the procedure is for doing this, but to test it you could always create a dummy character and try it out to see what happens.

I started playing this game under my son's town, I created my character and everything but she was just a resident. I then got my own copy of the game and my own DS, but I didn't bother trying to transfer her over..... last week I reset and I transferred her over, it was pretty easy, on my son's copy I went to "I need help" with Isabel in the beginning and went to move to another town, on my game I said move in from another town.... and my character, her house etc. everything about her was the same as it was in my son's game.

Yup,once you've transferred your character to the other game cart,it's just like any other reset.You can pick your town map,where to build your house,etc.Everything that's in your character's house will transfer over.I know that any stuff you're selling in Re-tail won't transfer over.I had a rarely used second character in my first town so I decided to let her be mayor of her own town.It's pretty easy to do if you have an extra game cart and another 3DS.
