Help me narrow down my list of dream villagers!

Y'all, I have way too many villagers I'm considering for my town and I NEED to narrow it down so I have some idea of what villagers I want to look for.


My rules are
- no more than three villagers from my New Leaf town (Kiki, Ribbot, Skye, Merengue, Cheri, Kyle, Diana, Octavian, Blanche, Stitches)
- one of each personality would be nice but it isn't 100% needed. I could easily do without a sisterly villager and there's also only one smug and one jock on my list.
- HOWEVER no more than 3 of one personality and I'd prefer to keep it at two.
- Also no more than 2 of a species.
- I don't mind having some "popular" villagers but I'd like to have underappreciated villagers in my town as well.
- Kiki, Ribbot, and Sylvana are absolutely 100% locked in for my town, I just need to figure out the other 7.


Here are the other villagers I am considering for those 7 slots:

Diana - my third favorite overall villager behind Kiki and Ribbot. I had her in my town in New Leaf, so if she stays, she'll be my third returning villager from New Leaf. I adore Diana. She's adorable, her house is classy, and I really enjoyed decorating her yard. She is probably the most popular of the villagers I'm considering, barring maybe Audie.

Octavian - Octavian was in my Wild World and New Leaf towns. I adore him and I think he's absolutely hilarious. However, I only want 3 returning villagers from New Leaf max and if I keep Diana, he's got to go. So basically, I can keep Diana or Octavian, but not both. (Kiki and Ribbot are not going anywhere). However, there really aren't that many cranky villagers I like. But I have had Octavian a LOT before, and I don't like his New Horizons model as much as his other models.

Julia - I found a picture Julia online on a list of removed villagers before New Leaf came out and I was so hoping she would return to New Leaf. I was sadly disappointed, but was thrilled when it was announced that she was coming to the Welcome Amiibo update. However, there was a problem...her personality was changed to Snooty, when it was previously Peppy, and while I would have been willing to swap Flora out for Julia, I didn't want to replace Blanche or Diana, so I didn't end up getting her in New Leaf. She is still the villager I want most out of all the villagers I've never had before.

Agnes - Pigs are my favorite animal. Agnes is one of my favorite pigs. Agnes is also one of the few sisterly villagers I like. I really love Agnes, and if I get a sisterly villager it will be her, but I didn't have a sisterly villager in New Leaf, it's my least favorite personality, and I just don't care that much if I have one?

Julian - OK, I did not like Julian at ALL prior to him being the campsite villager I was required to move in. But I am a convert. He is so charming, his was the first picture I got, and if I get rid of him, I don't know if there's another Smug villager I would want (since I had Kyle in New Leaf). I really love Julian now, and I'm getting attached.

Bianca - Bianca was my random peppy move-in. I fell in love with her instantly. I have never grown so attached to a villager so fast. The only thing is, there are so many peppy villagers I adore. I love Bianca and I would love to keep her, but she has a LOT of competition. I also don't want to move her out unless I'm 100% sure I'm not keeping her, even though I have her Amiibo, because I like the default peppy house better than her unique house.

Pippy - Pippy was a starting villager in my GameCube game. I invited her due to nostalgia. I love her. She's so underappreciated. She gets NO love and I adore her so much! I just want to keep her and give her a yard of gold roses to make her feel LOVED.

Audie - The new villager I wanted the most, I went on an 81 island hunt for her. She's adorable, don't get me wrong, and I really like her! But I'm not sure I like her more than Bianca or Pippy? And I realllyyyy don't want three peppy villagers. But I spent so many NMT to find her, I kinda hate the idea of giving her up because I DO really like her? But again, I'm not sure.

Biskit - Biskit was a random move-in. He stuck around for awhile and then he asked to leave. And...I really miss him? For some reason he just really grew on me, and I find myself missing him a LOT. (I currently have Sherb and I'm not a fan). But I did have Biskit in both ACGC and ACWW as well, so there are lazies I like that I haven't had before that are strong contenders.

Goldie - If I get a third normal, it's gonna be Goldie. I adore golden retrievers and I have always wanted to have Goldie. However, as I said, Kiki and Sylvana are 100% staying, it's not neogtiable, and I don't like Goldie AS much as those two, but I still like her more than most of the others on this list. The only thing keeping her from being a lock is the fact that I would then have three normals, despite normal being my favorite personality...

Dobie - I love how old and grumpy he looks, and I love the idea of a grumpy grandpa living out his retirement on my island! Plus, there aren't a lot of crankies on my list. I've never had him before, but I keep running into him on mystery islands and it's increasingly hard to leave him.

Ketchup - Another villager I've always wanted She's a freaking tomato duck. However, that's where my reasons begin and end, lol.

Blaire - one of my all time favorite snooty villagers. She was a good friend in ACWW and I really think she's adorable. But there are snooties I like a lot more, and squirrels I like a lot more.

Bruce - I had him for a bit in New Leaf, but replaced him with Octavian and I've always kind of regretted it?? His color scheme is so pleasing and I think he's a great cranky villager.

Drago - another villager I have always wanted, but never had. He's lazy, which is a personality that isn't on this list a lot, so he could fill a needed personality slot while still being a new face. I also like that he's not super popular. I really enjoy giving villagers that are not super popular fancy homes in my towns.

Advice? I am also open to suggestions on potential crankies/smugs/lazies/sisterlys.

I'm sure there are people that have Audie and love her, but it seems like not everybody that has her has clicked with her (myself included, at least so far). I think a lot of her popularity is from not having amiibo + her design (which is admittedly really great).

Probably worth trying if you have the opportunity, but I wouldn't necessarily go to a lot of trouble if you have other options you like.

I also think you might like Drago too since you have a lot of excitement when typing about him:

Villager 10 could be Agnes if you do want a uchi

I totally vote for Agnes & Dobie! Agnes was one of my first two and I had to get rid of her because of starter house. I want her back so bad! Dobie is just adorable- lil old man! I have him on my island and I love him.

Personally, I have both Diana and Octavian, and I love them both... but Octavian is a gem. I happen to love crankies this game, and Octavian and Fang are pure gold to me.

From your list, I would say Octavian, Pippy (also love this girl!!!) and Drago because I personally love him.

So this brings us to... two normals, a jock, a cranky, a peppy and a lazy. Still need Snooty, Smug and Sisterly.

For snooty, I would recommend Astrid, Friga or Julia

Smug I easily recommend Lucha, Lopez or Ken. I also love Eugene because hes so unique looking.

My sisterly recommendations are limited, but I like Fuchsia.

Ok so this is a little biased with one or two of the villagers because I love them sm but this is my personal list for you:

Kiki: ultimate cat, super cute.

Ribbot put him in sports sunglasses and he will rock those. Love ribbot

Octavian: you love him a lot and I can see why, he is very cute

Julia: despite her personality change she’d still be a great edition

biskit: always been adorable but in NH he’s even better

Pippy: what’s not to love, she’s a great peppy

Julian: you need a smug in your life, Julian has the coolest house out of all the villagers in this game


Ketchup: you listed the reasons in your own post. Adorable tomato

Not sure if I broke any of your rules but that’s my contribution. I’m not the number one Julian fan either so on my list you could swap him out. In the end just pick your favourites and don’t worry about the rest. Sometimes visiting people who have these villagers can also really help

octavian - while you may not be a fan of his current model, you seem to still like his character more than diana and so i’d keep him

julia - you seem to want her the most out of all your inexperienced villagers (you even said so yourself) so i’d bring her in if you do decide to get rid of diana!

julian - you’re attached to him now so it’s a no-brainer that you should keep him

pippy - you’re willing to give shawty a whole gold rose garden so you obviously gotta keep her

biskit - you miss him so i’d invite him in!

bianca - i would have her, too! you seem to really like her and with her + pippy combined, that’d have you at your peppy max!

bruce - i’d bring him in if you decide to boot diana if you regret letting him leave in new leaf and if you don’t like him that much this time, either, you could go for dobie!

So aside from your OG 3, I can list why I think you should go with the others.
Bruce: He is legit one of my FAVORITE villagers. He was in my NL town and I ADORED HIM. He was surprisingly kind to me and just overall has a very neat design- perhaps not the most unique, but it's simple and sleek.
Dobie: I love the idea of an old, cranky man. He has a super unique design and man, I do love my wolves. I also feel bad for him because most wolves have the cranky personality so he has to compete with ALL the other male wolves in the series- and all the wolves have great designs. I feel he is often overlooked compared to like- Chief, Wolfgang, Fang, etc.
Biskit: Easily one of my favorite Lazy villagers. He's super cute, super sweet, and is slightly creepy in a not so creepy way? Idk, he is bestest boy though.
Diana: A very well-designed and pretty snooty deer. I've never had her, but would easily take her if I came across her on an island.
Agnes: Surprisingly a very well-designed pig! And those are hard to come by lol. I actually wanted her on my island before I decided to go for a spooky theme. Even then I was trying to convince myself she was 'kinda spooky'.
Audie: A newer one, but one who I think deserves the hype she's getting. Her design is wonderful, her personality is adorable, and her house is fabulous. I really enjoy having her on my second island and she was worth every NMT.
Julian: Another one I've never had but would love to get one day. His house... oof amazing. His design is nice and idk I just really like him. Plus.. unicorn.. c'mon. He's like, a dreamy, cloud unicorn.

Dobie (Cranky) - I love Dobie. He really fits the cranky personality. It's a shame he has to share it with so many other wolves, but I think he really stands out.

Agnes (Uchi) - I used to not be a huge fan of hers but she has kind of won me over. Not only does she have a unique design but she is really friendly, too.

Pippy (Peppy) - I think, for the reasons you gave, that Pippy is a no-brainer for you. I love how much you appreciate her! That makes her an obvious choice, to me anyways!

Diana (Snooty) - If she's one of your absolute favorites, you might as well let her come back again!

Drago (Lazy) - He doesn't get enough love. I think he would definitely be a great addition to your island.

Ketchup (Peppy) - She is really cute and it sounds like you've never had her before? That's a great reason to give her a chance!

Julian (Smug) - Okay, not my favorite and there's a villager below I personally would rather than, but that's just my opinion and since you mentioned that you are beginning to feel attached to Julian, you may as well keep him!

I could add my .02 I would like to nominate Jacques. He is such a cool bird and really fits the smug personality so well. It aches that Raymond, Julian and Marshal get so much love yet there's hardly any for this hipster. His house exterior is also really sleek. I think his character has one of the best designs.

From your list, I would say:

Diana - If she's one of your favorites, I would say to bring her back. Between her and Octavian as the returning villagers, you sound way more attached to Diana (and you mention not liking Octavian's model, and that you kind of regretted moving him in over Bruce, so maybe this is the game to sit out having Octavian).

Julia - she's a new (to you) face, and you've mentioned wanting her most of all, so why not give her a shot now?

Agnes - If you like her and you like pigs, then she's good to have around for personality diversity. Also pigs are fairly uncommon so you don't need to worry about having multiples of them, based on the rest of your list.

Julian - He's the only smug on your list, and it sounds like you're enjoying having him around.

Pippy - Like others have said, you sound way more excited about Pippy as a peppy than the others.

(just kinda interjecting this here, that if you are more upset about losing the NMTs you used on Audie than losing her as a resident on your islnd, then you could always sell her to recoup the cost?)

Drago - Another one you mention wanting, and never having before.

Dobie - If you don't like Octavian as much in this one and you do like Dobie's model, then why not give him a shot for a cranky?

All in all, you at least have some backups if you get these villagers and they aren't clicking

Who I would pick based on your reasons:
Agnes - Uchi Pig. She's one of the Uchi's you like and Uchi is one of your least favorite personalities. All Agnes all the way!
Julia - Snooty Ostrich. Julia is one of the coolest looking villagers and she isn't one you have had before. I'd say try her out and you can always switch her out for Diana later.
Julian - Smug Horse. I'm jealous you got a campsite villager that you actually like lol. Definitely keep him if you're attached to him!
Pippy - Peppy Rabbit. I LOVE THE BUNNY LOVE. Plus you definitely need to have a nostalgia villager.
Dobie - Cranky Wolf. One of my coolest looking crankies! Try him out and you can always replace him with Octavian if you change your mind.
Drago - Lazy Alligator. A really unique option and it'll be nice to have a new face around.
Biskit - Lazy Dog. Keep the lazy puppy around if you're attached to him! He can help show the others around.

current plan:

Drago or Biskit or another lazy villager (use amiibo cards to find one)
Dobie or Bruce or another cranky villager
Julia or Agnes (have both amiibo cards so could also potentially switch out). Really depends on if I can deal with not liking the sisterly personality very much. If I decide I really don’t want a sisterly villager, I’ll have Julia permanently.

I really wish we could have 12 villagers....

oooh okay, I'd totally go for Dobie, Diana and Pippy! Dobie and Diana are so awesome and they would be your cranky/snooty. The way you spoke about Pippy was so sweet so you should go for her The other two I'd go for would be either Agnes, because of your love for pigs or Goldie because ??? Golden retrievers are so gorgeous and I SOOO agree with you on that. Good luck
