I can buy one game as of now and I'm having a hard time deciding.
It's for WiiU.
I played the demo of pikmin 3 and loved it. But I'm also considering splatoon and smash bros. but I don't have the best internet. And those other two seem like they'd only be fun online?

splatoon: idk havent got it
sm4sh: rly fun online and offline
Pikmin: no online but rly good storyline and general game

pikmin is the oldest, so id probably buy sm4sh and fork it out until pikmin3 becomes a bit cheaper

if u have bad internet then splatoon will probs lag

See I don't think Pikmin will really become cheaper. Even Pikmin 2 is still 40$ used. :/

I voted Pikmin 3. I also recently played the demo and it was awesome. The game looks absolutely beautiful and I feel bad for not trying to buy it earlier. But it is still at $60 right now and that annoys me.

I have SSB WiiU and it was fun to unlock everything and try out the new stuff, but after a while I get kind of bored playing it by myself and my internet never seems to work in online games for WiiU.
I don't have Splatoon but it doesn't look like my style so I have no comment there.

That's the problem with me too! It's three years old. But Nintendo games generally hold their value pretty well. And with Pikmin 2 still being 40$ used, I don't see 3 going down anytime soon.

If you don't have good internet then Splatoon will be the most boring game there, so do NOT get it.
Smash is probably the best option, since it's actually worth the $60. Pikmin 3 can be finished in like 10 hours, so wait until it goes to $40 since that's a bit more reasonable.

Pikmin 2 was a really rare game, unlike Pikmin 3. You can also download Pikmin 3, so wait until the price drops or goes on sale there.

very rarely do the digital prices for wii u games decrease, her best bet would be to get a physical pre-owned copy

Which are selling for $53 at the least on Amazon. You'd think after 2 years at least the physical copy price would go down some.

Edit: okay, someone added one for $50.99. Progress.

I feel like the 4 people who voted for Splatoon didn't even read the first post.

Probably not. Haha.
I mean, I personally want Splatoon the most out of the three games. But my internet is just not that great. I know I can play games such as black ops on my PS3 and I usually only get lag if someone else uses the Internet in the house. Other than that I'm usually fine. But I feel like splatoon would need more than what call of duty does.

Splatoon and Smash are both truly great games. I'd personally recommend getting Smash if you can only choose one. You won't regret it.

I honestly didnt even look at any of the other choices. Splatoon right now is the only game.

pikmin 3 is an amazing game but sadly it's quiet short, you can probably finish the whole game in about 3 days 100%

smash is great but I personally found the lack of a story mode made it feel kind of all over the place, I say it's the type of game of hardcore smash fighters who are already familiar with the series but that's just me I guess....

Splatoon is awesome!!! even if your internet is not the best the single player mode is quiet worth it, it's the same level of fun as super mario 3d world in my opinion

I don't have the best internet either (have issues visiting ACNL towns), and my internet is very slow (slower than over 80% of my country according to an internet speed tester). Even with these issues Splatoon works surprisingly well! ^.^ I only get kicked off on rare occasions but that happens to people with super good internet too.

I voted for Splatoon as its one of my fave Wii U games right now besides Mario Kart.

If you still insist on getting Splatoon despite having bad a Internet Connection at your home, then you could try to buy some Splatoon amiibo, provided you can find them. Those will extend your single-player playtime by an hour or so each.

Otherwise, I would strongly recommended getting Super Smash Bros. 4. Loads and loads of replay value on solo and with friends locally.

I wonder on how bad your Internet actually is. You should take a test from SpeedTest and choose the closest server based on where you currently live. For example, mine is...

I have a very bad connection and I still can play online Nintendo games decently enough, because it's surprisingly consistent for the most part. The only problem I would have is whenever I face with anyone outside of America or someone else with a much more unstable Internet. When I try to connect with Europeans and Japaneses servers, I always have a ping of 100+m/s, which would put me at a disadvantage. For everything else than online gaming, it's a perfectly serviceable Internet, but I don't expect being able to stream myself playing a video game because of the atrocious upload speed.

I'd go with Smash, Splatoon unless your Internet is a miserable failure, but it doesn't seem to even be that bad.. I don't know about Pikmin 3, but Splatoon takes up more space than a clean Wii U, so you'll need one of those things. Connector things and a hard drive.

I'd say, get SSB4. Pikmin 3 and Splatoon both have short single player, and in my opinion, the Splatoon multiplayer is the same thing, over and over. Get SSB4 if you are looking to get the most use out of a game, although, all three are quite fun.

You'll be surprised that Splatoon is only around 2GB, save datas and patches included, while Super Smash Bros. 4 takes up to 12GB. Pikmin 3 is around 5GB with everything.

Both Splatoon and Smash 4 are reliable choices, but there're a couple things you need to keep in mind:

1. Splatoon is expanding slowly as new content is being released every five days or so. For example, we just got Bluefin Depot last night. Smash doesn't get new content this quickly.
2. Smash is less repetitive than Splatoon due to the sheer size of roster, but every game you play in Splatoon always feels different due to the dynamics of the battle system.
3. Smash, if you get the DLC for Wii U version only, totals to about $60 (base game) +$17 (DLC chars and Suzaku Castle) +2 (Dream Land) = $71. Splatoon is $59, at least for now.
