Hi all, hope you can help. I'll give you a background of what we did and what we are trying to do, as a family.

- bought a switch for family usage. Each family member has their own username on the switch. One person (me) has a nintendo online account that has all the digital games.
- bought a digital animal crossing key, registered to my account.
- I'm the owner of the island, and the other 2 family members live on it.

I now have a second switch, and I signed in using my nintendo account. I started another island.
I can play animal crossing at the same time as someone else in the family is playing on their username.

PROBLEM: We cannot do local play and visit each other's island. It gives an error at the airport.

If I purchase another animal crossing key, is it possible to assign this to my wife's account on the original switch, and keeping the same island that was originally started on the family switch? Could I then, on my own switch, visit the family island?

This is very complicated! Hope for some clarity. Thanks

Ok so!!! This happened with my bf and I.
What you need to do is buy a second PHYSICAL copy of the game sadly in order to play together.

You cant buy a second digital game if someone on the switch already has one
Whatever switch is considered the "secondary" account for the download should use the physical copy.

It's very confusing so if you have any other questions feel free to ask!!

Ah, that kinda makes perfect sense! It's a pity because I got the animal crossing limited edition with the digital code, and the family switch (red and blue) is also digital lol.

Oh well... looks like i'm buying a physical copy as well!

Got another question lol... so when I buy the physical copy and put it into the secondary switch, I take it nothing else needs done? The check at the airport will just be ok then?

Or, do I need to restart my individual island on the secondary switch?

Thanks :)
