[Help] File data corrupted/changed

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread in advance.

I play Animal Crossing New Leaf with my sister, and we have been playing (on the same game card and 3DS) since July this year.

The town has been going well, with us both advancing and the game saving perfectly.

However, recently our town has changed. My sister has been playing Animal Crossing for the past few days by herself and today when I log on, I find that all of my 'edits' have disappeared, including my player save file. All the coconut and banana trees that were planted on the beach had disappeared as well as the beach appearing and running in the wrong direction. My sister can't remember it being different, but then my animal crossing life would be a lie. Kapp'n used to be at the island as I had upgraded my house twice, but now with my sister's default house, he has disappeared, along with the items in the basket.

My sister and I both noticed that the Museum had changed in the street, with around 100 donations being reduced to around 20 (I'm not sure if 80 were mine).

We hadn't played for a month so I am not sure if this is why all our villagers have changed. We used to have Kitt, Peanut, Bella, Frobert, Jay, Queenie, and a Male sheep I can't remember the name of and others I cant remember (full town).

Now we have Ribbit, Hazel, Melba, Knox, Benjamin, Gloria and Pompom, with another villager moving in.

Before we were fundraising for a bridge to be built across a river (which looks slightly different now) and my sister, as the Mayor, said that she cancelled the fundraising of the bridge. The 50,000 bells we put towards it was not given back to her (I'm not sure if this actually happens).

The Nookington store has been downgraded, with Nash's part completely disappearing.

All in all, I am not sure what has happened, and I am writing this to ask if any of you guys have experienced this issue before, and if I could somehow fix it.

It is a possibility that my sister had just reset the village and created a huge lie to cover up what she has done, but I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Your character wouldn't delete itself and not hers, and it wouldn't change your map randomly and give you new villagers. Either she's corrupted the data accidentally and had to reset and covered it up, or she just reset it for the fun of it and made a huge lie up. Sounds like that to me.

Yeah I'm like 99.9% sure she reset your village. I'm sorry to hear it. I'd literally kill my sister if she did that to me. Honestly your sister's probably reset so she can be the mayor and do stuff considering nothing was happening while you were away. That really sucks though. The worst thing is is the lie. Not sure why she didn't just admit what she'd done… How old is she?

Yeah, your sister probably lied. I've never heard of only parts and pieces of a save randomly changing from being corrupted.Also how could she not notice a difference in the map layout obviously that sounds suspicious. I'm just glad I don't have to share my game with anyone or else I'd probably flip out major time if my sibling did something like this to my game.

No-one has had a town change like that. And a 2nd character cannot become the mayor without moving to a new town. She absolutely reset the game.

I agree with Pequepanda, you get to reset it now to start over however you like....and if it was my game? I would not be sharing it ever again.

Gonna be 100% honest, if she denies anything, she's most likely lying. If the file corrupted, it corrupted, and it wouldn't be her fault; therefore, there would be no reason to lie.
(Or at least that's how I see it..)

Easiest way to go about this is to sit on the Town Tree. The biggest, if not the most important answer to this mystery is when her character was made as mayor of town.
