Ah, I just saw that you are at 7 residents with #8 moving. So that's a definite new town.

I would be willing to believe that there was an accident and she's afraid to tell you....but it can't be the same town.

And sorry, from your comment about PWPs I thought you were the original mayor for some reason! So is it her game that she was sharing with you? She still should tell you what happened -- you should have had the chance to salvage your stuff unless it was a mistake.

Easiest way to go about this is to sit on the Town Tree. The biggest, if not the most important answer to this mystery is when her character was made as mayor of town.

Ah yeah, and that would work too -- although it would be easy to tt to fake that date if you really wanted to.

True, it is easy to fake it, but I think the hard part is actually remembering to do so when you reset.

I'm not sure how old you guys are or if you have to share games or your 3DS or what-not, but I'd get your own copy of animal crossing if that's not your own personal copy that you bought.

The tree was less than 5 days old, and we started the town in July, so she definately has deleted it (you can't even sit on the tree for the history).

Maybe she is a beginner and didn't know that pressing "Re-create the Town" means delete save file, but then again, she's got some nerve lying to you in that situation.
