I tried checking the FAQ for this but it's not specific enough to what i need.

so i have design/path around my house, and i planted my bushes 1 space away from my house, 3 (maybe 4?) from the river. however they're still dying. is there such thing as dead spots? or am i just not doing this right lol

Hmm. Can you post a screenshot of the area? I am weak without a visual. Where is the river, behind or in front of your house?

so i planted a flower where i used to have my bush starts that both died for reference.

So I found this image

This person was having the same issue as you. The replies she got was that it has to be 2 spaces away from the front of the house. Weird. I didn't know that myself.

Interesting! The more you know. Thanks for the help! ~ヾ(^∇^)

I think the problem is the path! Looking in both of the pictures, there are paths next to the dead bushes, which may mean that that's the cause. Also from person experience, I saw a few bushes I planted die when placed right next to the path, but grow just fine in the same spot after I rerouted my path. Again, I'm not exactly sure, but I think that may be the problem you're having with the dead bushes, and I hope this helps!

Odd that your bushes would die only while next to paths! I usually line my paths with bushes and have only had them die if I accidentally planted them too close to something else or had one too many touching without realizing it
