Depends on expectations. I personally have put about 250+ hours into the game. Prior to this, the longest game I've played on the Switch is around 30 hours. This includes all games I've played/owned since I bought the Switch, a couple of months after release. I say, even though I don't play as much as I did initially, I got my money's worth.
I still play the game (over 500+ hours) and definitely know what you mean. I've been enjoying the wedding event and plan on terraforming a bit more once I have all of the items. My best friends are all playing totally different games now and it sucks tbh. I'm mostly alone and wish I could go visit and hangout with more people. Was even thinking about making a thread asking for FCs but idk if theres already a thread for that.
Well everyone have their reasons, I went back to work last week and I have traded for most of my wishlist, so I'm playing less than I used to.
Mostly trying to get the new bugs/fishes of the month plus the daily chores, while waiting for the next season and others updates.
I don't think it matters as long as you're having fun . there could be no one playing and i'll probably still play it for a bit (assuming they update with more stuff).
Most of my irls dropped it after like a month, maybe even less than that. I got my copy several weeks after the release date and couldn't really find anyone who played by then, and the few people who still did have gradually stopped playing since.
Lack of content in every area of the game.
It honestly feels like 10% of what New Leaf had.
Terraforming is sweet, but with barely any unique furniture in the game it's not exactly amazing as a decoration game, you're pretty much limited to either a zen, or cottage theme, and people are already sick of seeing that.
Right now the game is worse than HHD as a creative outlet, and worse than New Leaf when it comes to gameplay and content.
It might very well end up better than both with updates, but the updates so far have been pretty small, since release it have pretty much just been bushes, art, and wedding event, oh and the one event that shall not be named that were completely mishandled, and made people actively not play the game lol.
Doesn't this happen with any new, popular thing? Hype dies down over time, that's just how it works lol
People were super excited about a new Animal Crossing game so things were crazy for a bit. But now it's not as new, so people are calming down
Pretty much inevitable with every game out there. Of course there will always still be an audience as there are some dedicated players, whereas some have only played casually. Quarantine was certainly a factor that contributed to this, but also given the fact that it's been a few months now, most people aren't grinding long hours on the game anymore.
Obviously when it came out, everyone started from scratch so everyone was going to be hooked at the start. Now? Not so much, but there's still a vast amount of players of course.
Yeah one of my friends hasn't touched the game in over a month and she only has a total of 75 hours logged in total I don't think Animal Crossing is really the game for her. Another thing I've noticed is the number of engagements decreasing as well. When the game first came out my posts on Tumblr would get 900-1k notes and I posted a new design a couple days ago and it only has 17 notes.
Yeah my friends who started around the same time as me has stopped playing now too. They occasionally go online but not as much as before it's kinda sad but it's expected ^^
Some of my friends who've never played got bored really quickly and havent touched the game since. Some other friends who played past AC games stopped playing NH because they find it stale compared to older games.
NH isn't really my favourite AC game but I'm still playing it and have a lot of hours clocked in.
I have noticed this as well. Most of my friends don't play much, if at all. I really wonder if they do add new buildings to the game will it bring people back or push people away more. A lot of my friends have finished terraforming their island and don't even have room to add anything if they had to and are not even interested in changing their island if they had to.
I'm starting to become one of those people that aren't checking in as much tbh.
There's just NOTHING to do in AC once you reach a certain point. After a while, it just becomes a daily checklist.
-What's in the nook shop today?
-What's in the ables sisters shop today?
-Where are the 4 fossils that spawn on my island daily? Where's the buried 1000 bells? What does Blathers have to say about the fossils?
-Harvest anything that's done growing for bells, or DIYs you are saving up for.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
This game REALLY needs to expand more on multiplayer. I think people would have a lot more fun in this game with their friends if there were more games/activities to do when they visit each other. You can't really do much other than trade items, drop bells, or use the Timer to do a bug/fishing contest.
Due to lockdown a lot of people who wouldn't normally have bought the game ended up giving it a chance. Many of these people will be used to games that only give them 25-40hrs content, which is standard for a lot of games. So a combination of coming out of lockdown and having already sunk a lot of hours into the game means interest is bound to fade.
