Just curious how many people have gotten scammed/items stolen or came close to it on NH. I know I've been almost scammed at least twice and I have caught people trying to steal items. It's usually from Nookazon or Reddit, though. I had some girl come over to catalog the Pink Snorkel a few hours ago. She asked to shop and I stupidly let her, even though I had a bunch of items on the ground, because I'm too nice. She ran ahead of me and when I caught up to her she was grabbing a DIY in front of my house (no where near shops) and I went to sleep mode so fast, lol. She messaged me on Discord saying "huh? what happened?" and when I went to respond she had blocked me, LOL.

Does anyone else have any fun stories to share? :P

I haven't had a bad experience yet
that said, I only let strangers on my island once and very much walled of to ensure the only possible location they could go was the nookshop for selling turnips
before I did that though, i heard some stories. from friends but also people here. and I was discouraged from hearing those stories to ever let anyone on my island ever. I just don't want to risk anything.

Yeah, I usually wall stuff off minus shops but my new layout makes it hard to do that because of the beach and not being able to put a fence where the beach/grass touch. I should fix it but I'm kind of lazy at the moment. If it's NPCs I usually wall it off too and shove them to the airport where walling off is easy lol. I've had genuinely great experiences, though, but I know a lot of people who have had bad ones. I just try to expect the best from people :P

I actually leave all of my DIY's out in the open next to my house, and while i've had over a 100 trades and, i've never had a single theft. Then again, I have mainly only traded on here, and whenever I do a trade on nookazon I always prefer going to there island instead. Although my friend did get all of his DIY recipes stolen from his island T_T so I'd say it's best to wall off some parts of your island, and keep a watchful eye out just incase. It also helps that I put a little shopping area right next to my entrance, so they can get to nook's cranny and able's easily, and aren't tempted to steal anything if/when they go wandering around my island.

I'm glad you haven't had any thefts! Sorry about your friend :( I'm usually too lazy to go to their island if mine is already open anyway. I should probably start going to theirs... I know a lot of people also use the stall and block their airport with it to trade. That way no one can ask to go shop and you can just trade quickly and be done with it. I like that idea, but it isn't always practical especially with big trades.

I've never let any strangers on my island. I've only let friends I trust 100% visit. I've never been scammed doing any trades on other people's islands either. I've been given the wrong variant of an item before, but it's always been an accident (I presume) and I've usually just let it go if it was a larger order. But as far as actual scamming, no, I never have been scammed. Now encountering rude people is a whole 'nother thing, but that just comes with the territory of online play.

Nope, I've only ever traded on here though for NH. In NL though people on here always used to steal my golden roses or trample them but since we have dodos now this doesn't happen.

I only invite randoms over when I want them to clear me out of stuff! I posted my dodo code on twitter one time to ask people to take away my DIYs for free and I was left loads of items in tips, I thought it was lovely of everyone. I only wouldn't do that again because the loading times for multiple visitors was so bad.

Of all the times I made trades here I never had bad experiences even if I leave ton of stuff laying around! On the contrary people have always been so lovely, I don't know if I was lucky or what. I usually just check the feedback and make sure that they have at least a handful of good reviews :)

I haven’t with NH. It used to happen to me on occasion in NL, but with the ability to fence people off and then the fact that you can’t just pick up flowers, I think those changes help a lot. I also don’t leave stuff out for people to steal - my extra diys/mats/items are in my house or my storage.

Unless they’re like a brand new member and haven’t really learned trade etiquette just yet, most of the people from tbt are super great. The worst that’s happened to me is someone going through a gap in a fence to check the shops (which is totally fine if you ask, but it’s kinda rude to just run off without asking first if that’s not the reason you were invited). That person wasn’t from tbt though, they came through TE back when I used that. Tbt users are generally super polite and reliable, so I do just about all of my online interactions here and here alone.

I've only ever used this website to arrange trades, and have found everyone I've dealt with completely honest and trustworthy.

I even had an incident earlier this week where I paid for a genuine artwork and when I took it to Blathers it turned out to be fake. On any other website, I'd have panicked and started to question what was going on, but having done a few previous trades with this poster and looking at all their positive ratings, I just knew it was going to be an honest mistake...which it 100% was.

A quick PM later and it was all sorted, no issues.

I've done loads of trades / buying on here over the past few months, and I've not experienced a single issue.

I don't mind being patient or paying a bit more on here for the peace of mind of knowing I'm not at risk of getting scammed or having to deal with any drama.

the only scam I've ever had was with turnip selling, a bunch of us paid the entrance fee (I think like 2 gold nuggets at most) and then he ended it. I realised what was happening and tried to hit the power button but he'd invited a friend over after we all paid soo it'd already saved. but never once had a bad experience on here!! so I tend to stick to this now even more so than I used to

i once opened my island for turnips and one person came in payed me the gold nuggets i asked, then she left quietly ( i asked to leave via airport), after less than a minute another person came (which i didnt give my dodo to) - and crashed the game. so basicly they sold the turnips but the gold they gave me didnt save.
so that sucked lol..

I trade a lot here and on Reddit and I’m glad to say I have never had any bad experience. Even with new members (I’ve traded with people who have zero feedback). I try not to judge so much on feedback because I get that we all start as new. I trade almost daily and I’m fortunate enough not to have been scammed or or had any bad experience.

I've traded on here many times and never had a bad experience. I think it helps that I've never bought anything extremely expensive. I usually trade items with people, catalog stuff, or buy access to islands for Celeste and just tip people. I'd be way more wary if I was buying something for a lot of bells, TBT, or Nook miles, but I don't think I'll ever need to do that.

Nothing has happened here yet and I take plenty of risk, letting people wander wherever and all. I'm a little more careful with brand new players but there is just so little damage that can be done on my island...

I think 99% of the people I traded here with are really nice, some really generous, and I've been trading pretty much daily for 2 months. My only bad experience was with someone that decided to be rude for some reason, but nothing bad happened. I've also opened my island for tours, let people wander, turnip selling and celeste, and never had anybody steal anything. On one of those times I even forgot a money bag on the ground and it was still there afterwards.

Never. But I was once trolled by a disconnector who also kept scaring fish.

I’ve never been scammed before, but I know it happens. The only kind of bad experience I had was when someone had bad internet, i was kinda annoyed but whatever, it’s not their fault
