Have you ever transferred your alt character to another town as mayor?

I have this alt character since I started this town over a year ago and she has never quite fit in.

she has bells, a nice house and a decent inventory. I was going to delete her but I couldn't.
Why not have her be a mayor of a new town?!

Have you ever transferred an alt into a mayor?

I'm wondering about how town resetting works because I really want cherries and a west beach.

Any stories, tips and tricks will be appreciated!

I did this once and everything went smoothly. I didn't keep the new town very long due to having to go through all of the hassle with Isabelle all over again plus, I had way too many towns at the time. It's just fine if you want to start a new town with the alt. character and keep all of her/his assets.

I haven't but both my siblings have since gotten their own towns and have transferred out of my town. I think it's a nice way to keep your items, house, bells, etc. but still get a fresh start. Of course, you need a second game and DS to do so. If you're resetting I think you can keep just the catalogue, which does allow you to get a lot of items right off the bat!

Yup, I did. When I didn't want to exchange my clothing over to my new town. I had an old 3ds, so I was able to put all my held items with my other town, restarted my main and created a copy of my mayor. I then transferred my alt to my main town.

this is beyonddd wicked, i did not know this was possible, holy heckoli!!!!! ***U***

i've never done this, but it seems like suuuch a cool idea and i think doing it would be really a fun way to reset

I transfered my villager Buster to another town and he became the new mayor.
Even the conversation with Rover was different since he recognized the player and only asked which map was the new town.

So do you start in a tent? Does your house size and layout, badges, fish and bugs caught, payments and storage come with you? What about your ABD total? I thought of doing this but wanted to know if I should dump everything in the old town first and then come pick it up.

If memory serves, you take it ALL with you. The only thing that doesn't transfer is villager approval and you still have to jump through Isabelle's hoops to get 100% and island access, etc. Of course, I'm still on my first coffee of the morning and the synapses may be a tad sluggish. Edit: I did this pre-update but it's probably the same All bugs/fish/etc donated stay in the museum. You start fresh in the new town.

Thank you for the reassurance. <3 Saves me a lot of time, labor and worry.

A thought: Pretty certain that your 2nd floor museum stuff stays with the old town so, if you have valuables in them, it's a good idea to put them in the house that's moving before committing to the move. Take your time... Add: Just follow that link that nunnafinga posted on 10 Dec. Your fish and bug collection stays in the old town.

That's a good idea, I'll make sure that's cleared out too just in case.

I just did this recently actually, and from what I know everything comes with you in your house and inventory. I cleaned mine out just in case, but it all transferred and when Nook plots you down, he'll plot your whole house and you just pick up paying the loan wherever you left off in the old town. I kept all my QR designs from my old town too, but I had to reunlock the QR machine in my new town.

Several years ago I transferred an alt character to a new town. The character keeps everything connected to them-house progress, patterns, appearance, TPC, storage, inventory, encyclopedia, and badges.
Unfortunetly I couldn't tell you anything about resetting for maps since I was afraid to do that myself since I thought I'd lose the character.
That town continues to be my main town and has been the longest town I've kept to date.
