So I want to say I was pretty close to finishing my island but then I realized my layout that included my cliffs/waterfalls/rivers sucked. It kinda got to a point where one section of my island was completely awkward ... Has anyone redone their island more than once as well? & what are some tips you can suggest in terms of waterfalls & cliffs?

In the past two months, I have restarted my landscaping twice because I also wasn't fond of the resulting layouts. The first time through, I had flattened several acres of land at once without a set plan so I really wouldn't recommend that. Having lots of barren land can be really daunting and it just became too stressful. Still, I (painfully) persevered! I didn't like the first layout because of how much space some of my waterfalls and cliffs took up and they weren't integrated well. My second attempt is going much better now that I have a better grasp on the terraforming mechanics, and I ended up removing a lot of unnecessary waterfalls. I've made better use of space as a result and am much happier!

... sort of? But only sections at a time.

My residential area has changed 3 times.
My shopping district changed once.
Dont get me started in my bamboo forest...
Just recently tore down my whole bamboo forest (...) to consdence it add a forced perspective spot.
Just redid around my house for the 3rd time...
Campsite base has stayed the same but the extension pond area super changed...
My orchard has been literally been in every square of my map at least once with how many times I hated it so moved else where just to hate it again so change again ~ ... I think I am finally happy with my "orchard" now.

That's exactly what I did my first time terraforming ! I had completely destroyed all my rivers, inclines & it kinda made me feel like I had to put something down & my island shows it 😅

I hadn’t redo my island, but if I’m unsatisfied with something, then I do a major fix on one area of my island.

I definitely consider it daily, but I know I'm just yearning for islands I couldn't possibly create. The most drastic thing I've done is terraform 1/3th of my island to an upper area but I kinda regret it because as a neighborhood it doesn't have a lot of space... I just have no direction for my island honestly. I wish terraforming areas was a lot simpler to do, I'd love to try out many different things and test them out.

I just finished my terraforming a couple days ago but now I feel like my island's really lacking but I'm not sure what. It's not ugly but my layout's pretty simple and it's started to look like just a plain town to me. I've been debating redoing everything and implementing more of a theme but I'm really hesitant to tear everything down for nothing if I can't manage to get it the way I want it to be. *sigh* I wish I was more creative

That's how my first attempt ended up! I was really pressured to create something and just fill the space haha. I was content for maybe 3 days and then decided I hated it so I scrapped nearly all of it and tried again. 10/10 would do it again (not really, but it was worth it because I'm much happier with what I have now). Here's my map progression:

definetly feel the same way ! I haven't actually created a neighborhood officially just because I have no idea how to start or even make it look pleasing enough ):

currently re-doing my island since i'm switching themes...for the 6th time
OMG 6TH ?!?!? question how do you go about themes ? is it by color, or specific furniture/diy items

I have not made much progress terraforming. I keep redoing the same area over and over until I get too frustrated to work on it and move on to a different area. There's usually a week of a break between areas cause moving buildings take forever. Right now I'm working on my star gazing platform and my secret beach area but I have too many flowers.

I'm on my second redesign, mostly cause my first one was a bunch of half-done random ideas that i ended up hating, so I'm redoing it with a coherent theme lol

I feel you ... it constantly rains on my island so all I get is more & more flowers ):

I habe not unlocked terraforming yet....on this island

But restarted my island both to inccoprate another player in my household, and because I could not find a layout that fit my first island along with my terrforming made everthing seem fake. Hopefully this time aroind will be better. Will start small and go slow.

Not yet, but i re-did a lot of areas, like moving whole cafes and orchards to another spot. I feel like i might redo my island at some point, too, because there are so many directions and Possibilities to explore.

ughh I do the exact same thing, I think the one thing I COMPLETELY messed up with my museum entrance is I included 4 inclines w/o knowing the limit was 8 ...

I've redone small areas, but not the whole island like that.

I just started terraforming and doing major construction projects on my island for the first time this month. I purposefully took a long time to think about things before getting started, and I'm also going slow. So far that method is working well. I haven't felt the desire to redo anything huge yet. I really like how most of my island is progressing.
