Sorry I couldn't get a picture. I was using the megaphone to call Skye and Bianca was right behind me. When I said "Skye" into the mic, Bianca gets surprised, and then says " How could you, [character name]?!" and then gets all mad. Did I just accidentally offend her because the mic misheard some swear word for Skye?

Later, I tried again by saying actual swearwords into the mic to use the megaphone but it didn't work. So, what just happened?

As much as i love the megaphone, it isnt all that accurate. I often say a villagers name only to have Kappn or some other villager respond instead. Thats probably what happened to you when you called for Skye, though the villagers get mad when you use the megaphone too close to them, which explains why Bianca got upset.

I think they only get mad when they hear their own name. Unfortunately, Skye is almost impossible to call on the megaphone (at least, for me), so the game probably thought you were trying for Bianca.

This happened to me for the first time tonight. Colton was too close to me when I called Gloria's name, and it hurt his ears. Colton didn't get mad or sad though. 0.0

I had Roscoe and I could never get his response by calling his name. Then I realized this is a Japanese based game, so I tried mimicking Japanese accents hoping to get it right. Since Japanese uses "L" sound for "R" and GREAT!! I called "Los-go" and he answered!! 100% hit rate!

The megaphone has some issues sometimes :/ You need to have the character you're calling quite far away from you...if im not mistaken

I think Kappn answers whenever the game doesn't understand you. I used the megaphone for the first time the other day, and pressed the button and didn't realize that I had a time limit to say the name. So I ended up not saying anything, and Kappn answered.

But then when I used it to find Lolly it worked fine. Maybe it has trouble with all the different accents and voice pitches, lol. I said her name very gently when I said it. XD
