Has this game's community kinda died out again? Finally getting back into things.

I’ll admit there is not as many who usedto play. But i know there are still a good majority of daily players including myself, its just about searching for those who play the same as you.

there are many on here who play daily and still enjoy the content☺️

its pretty boomin on tiktok and youtube since i get TONS of new recommendations on both of those, but i imagine its the same streamers who are playing it rather than newbies jumping in. ive seen some new people but not as much as 2020.

all my friends stopped playing in 2020. my sister whos obsessed with animal crossing stopped playing after she finished HHD. i stopped playing around march cause life got in the way and i have no desire to pick it back up now that the game is basically finished. but thats not to say that it isnt still popular, its just personal anecdotes.

it died out in my social friend group but nothing ever really dies online. AC subreddit gets tons of posts each day!

I'm back to playing daily, but not in the same way as I used to in terms of online play. Community for me is interacting with people on this forum and consuming AC content (which is still plenty on twitter and other platforms), and I do that even when I'm taking a break from the game. If I were to open my island for random visitors I probably wouldn't get any, plus being in a different time zone to most doesn't help. But online gameplay is a huge part of AC for me, so I still meet up with my group of friends whenever they are available. Friend-gatherings is usually what brings me out of hiatus to begin with. I used to loveee going on island tours by members here (dream addresses just aren't the same). That's the only thing I really miss about peak-ACNH activity.

IMO what really hurt this games longevity was the pacing. They went too long without releasing anything much and then released everything they had been holding back at once. Then announced there will be nothing else.... so not well managed and maybe intentionally to get the non-diehards looking elsewhere to raise more money on new games.
I agree. The way they drip fed us tiny tiny updates (like one new special holiday item) upset a lot of people, including myself. Not saying people hate the game, but I wouldn't be surprised if the way they managed the game and tried to control their players with a shock collar left a sour taste in people's mouths.

The community is still active all over the place! AC communities on Twitter, YouTube, Reddit, Nookazon and even Twitch all still happily playing the game and sharing content. So for those people who are just getting into ACNH or returning I really don't think you need to worry. It isn't as hugely popular as it once was, the hype has died down, but the communities are going strong and I think they will be for quite a long time as new people continue to pick up the game or return.

I still play daily and haven't skipped a single day since release. Although it's only short bursts of 10-15 minutes just to scratch that itch. My day just doesn't feel complete if I haven't played it, even if I'm just going to run a single lap around the island and then immediately close the game.

Still waiting for that multiplayer party aspect of the game.

There is none. Its 2022 and we still don't have any modes. How can they expect people to play online if there is no modes and they still force a NSO on you just to do simple things like sending a letter to your friend, visit someone's island, update your dream address, and of course trying to use the Kiosk in Able Sisters.

I know there is none. And the chances are slim. But I like to stay optimistic regardless, and you can't tell me otherwise.

For better or worse, there will never be the level of activity that NH had on its first month(s) and not just because the obvious "it's a new game" but because pandemic meant everyone was playing a lot and everyone wanted to be part of the hype.

While the pandemic is not over per se, several parts of the world have had to live with the current situation on a "friendly" manner, in the sense that many are not stuck on their houses all day, able to engage on social media or share their gameplay. Personally, I'm back at the office for 3 days per week, and after 2 and a half years of not going out, I'm starting to hang out with my friends more frequently now which means less time to play, less time to do things, etc. The world kind of also moves faster again, content creators need to get the latest games in order to keep their audience interested, there are new games to be hyped for getting constantly released and so on.

But there's still lots of people around and lots of content being shared. The game sold 6 million copies last fiscal year (March 2021-2022) which means there's tons of new players arriving too- but without the "new game" feeling around, many of them may not engage online and are peacefully playing at their own pace. The community as a whole may be quieter, but will never be truly dead. Even if I have to come and wave a "there's dozens of us" sign every week or so.

I don't think it will ever be as hyped as it was, but it's definitely doing nicely. This is pretty much the TBT forum as I know it from the New Leaf days I think :D
Except villager cycling and stuff was big then, but I think people mostly have the villagers and items they want now.

I think it depends on the gamer. I own about 10 games total but this is the one i like the most and the only one I can play pretty well. So I'm still really invested in it and find new ways to play. I love the game. I was just thinking that if someone made a theme park for Animal Crossing in Japan, I might finally really save up the money to take a vacation there. But for people who are good at gaming and play a lot of different kinds of games, they might have moved on since there may be new games coming out regularly that they can afford to buy and play that would draw their attention from this one.

I think its a shame that the community has died down. But it has been over 2 years since the game came out. Many have played for thousands of hours. It's to be expected

Plus I can hardly talk.
I took a decently long break myself. I was part of the decline.

But that just goes to show that people can and do return.
I wouldnt be shocked to see a resurgence in the future

The hype that New Horizons had has definitely died down, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The long time and real fans that truly love AC for what it is are still playing, which I think is a good thing myself.

Pretty much every game loses hype eventually, you never really know how good a game truly is until all the hype is gone is what I've learned over the years.

I've taken breaks from New Horizons and other AC games I've played as well, but it just has something that keeps bringing me back that no other game quite has that I love.

I have just started playing this game, and it's everything I wanted Stardew Valley to be. It's incredible, you should definitely stay active in the community if you can, makes the whole experience so much richer!
