But has anyone tried to invite a villager to move into their town that they already had?

I think they'll just refuse to move in.. but I haven't tried it personally.
A while ago, there was a user who invited a villager via campsite, and then invited them again from another village, and it glitched her game badly - does anybody else remember this? I'll see if I can find the thread...

they don't give you the option to invite them to your town if you try to move them in

That sucks for that person

I mean, I wasn't plan on attempting it by any means, I was just thinking about it and I thought it would be funny to somehow obtain 2 of the same villager, haha

Yeah it doesn't work! That would just ruin the game ahahah, they don't give you the choice to move in
