For those who haven't heard yet, it's a new feature in the update.

I'm thinking about selling mine, but I want to know how far other people were and how much they got, mainly because I don't really want to have to worry about the house upgrades.

Define sold.. I did it followed what the video did.. Tom nook did not show up for me and now I have to restart from scratch..

Though its not so bad, as I have only come back to the game after two years away.

Did you already install the update? Even so, I'm not sure if Nook already shows up automatically, or if you have to do something.

Yeah I installed the update, went to my old town and made sure everything was set up that was new. Then saved and decided to restart because of the Tom Nook feature but yeah nothing.

It said in small print that Tom Nook only buys ur town if u meet the criteria or prestige or something.

I imagine it is a separate feature (perhaps you have to go and talk to Tom Nook and explicitly confirm that you want to sell your town?) rather than something that happens automatically if you reset your town after the update. I'm not perfectly clear on it myself, though. I'm really sorry it didn't function the way you expected.

Ah, okay! I didn't see that...

I suppose that is better, rather than having people sort of "farm" towns to gain money, assuming you can get quite a bit from them for upgrades and such you don't really have to pay for.

Wait I'm confused. What actually is this feature and what happens if you sell your town?

Like I said, it's part of the update. When restarting your town, you have the option to sell it to Tom Nook, but apparently only if it meets certain criteria (which I guess is stuff like having the Main Street done and whatnot). Then when you've restarted the game, you'll get the value of your previous town transferred to your ABD. The demo town was worth 15 mil, so it seems towns are worth a decent amount.

That's really all you can tell from the direct, though, unless I missed something. I didn't see anything like them explaining how exactly to unlock the feature, or if you have to stick to certain options when starting up your new town, like having the same face or not being able to reset until you get a good town.

Ah, thanks, Nintendo. Now I know everything.

But thanks for adding the picture, I really didn't notice that while watching the Direct.

Me neither! That must be pretty annoying when you've just gotten rid of your town expecting Nook to give you some bells. :(

I'm not planning on resetting any time soon, though.

I'm definitely considering it. Whether or not I get to keep my own home and items is the deciding factor for me right now. I've already reset my town twice now. It's such a pain storing my furniture, items, and bells at someone else's town.

I reset my main town 2 days ago >:I

It sounds kind of sad to sell your town to nook.........
