Has anyone retrieved their backup save after a save corruption error?

Hi. Maybe this is already common knowledge; I had taken an extended break from ACNH last year and only just returned to it recently, so I don't know this myself. I was wondering if anyone before had managed to successfully get Nintendo to restore their island after their save data was corrupted?

Last year there was a lot of fervor about people experiencing save corruption glitches, particularly during online play. This was before Nintendo added the island backup feature. I won't ask if that glitch has been patched as I assume it wasn't and won't ever be. Most likely it only affected an unfortunate few, but it had been enough to make me lose all interest in ACNH.

The thing about the island backup tool is that it emphasizes it's only to be used if the Switch console is lost or damaged. I would guess that save corruption would also be a valid reason to retrieve from the backup, but the fact this is not mentioned has me unsure.

TL;DR: I'm only just wondering if Nintendo has allowed anyone to restore their backup save due to their save data becoming corrupted. Thank you.
