I was in a villager trade last week and when they came to pick up the villager I told them to follow me and they just ran around my town. It took them like 10 minutes just to finally go to the villagers house
I had a problem with a new person in our group. Gates were opened for turnip day in my new harvest town. No shaking trees was posted.
Since it was winter I just planted trees along the fence and in front of the train station. Working on getting sets of snowboy furniture.
While on the phone a visitor hit my player with the net and than started shaking trees. Ran pass the Train station to the locker and back. I could have hit the switch but finished my phone call. Said no shaking trees and it was a new harvest town.
Person went back to the locker and removed all the perfect fruit and left.
Went to look and the person cleared all of the trees along the bullentin board. And left a dead one. Think my town would have been cleared out.
Removed the person from my FC.
Nothing bad has happened to my town, but once I was doing a trade, and someone else came over instead.He didn't say "hi".He just took off running.I flipped the wifi.I later figured out it was a member of an ac club I was in.Very odd thing to do in my opinion.
The worst that's happened to me is people running over flowers. They were all very new to the game though and when I spoke to them about it said that they didn't know that some types of flowers were rare or that running around would destroy the flowers.
I think that because of these incidents, a lot of people are hesitant to have new players visit because they often don't know what the generally accepted behaviour in other towns is. I always give them a chance though. One new player that I helped a lot when she first started went on to become really rich and dedicated to the game and ended up helping ME out a lot, even finding and paying for one of my dreamies.
In my opinion, the many positive experiences I've had completely outweigh the negative.
The only time others have affected my town is via Spotpass villagers.
Mainly because they like to pop in whenever they darn well please since I usually take my 3DS for the Mii thing to public places.
Their discovery is usually followed by multiple sputterings and choice words. Especially if they decide to move in without me doing a new villager check....

nothing negative thus far merely because i have yet to really invite people / go to other people's towns because i'm paranoid of a random villager being thrown into my town. maybe when i hit 10 villagers i can branch out, but i'm also very wary of inviting people into my town. i know many are nice, but as many who are nice i am sure are those mean. if anyone cut down my trees, i would be devastated.
Yep. This happened to me in City Folk. A nice girl came over and she pretty much stole 16 of my gold roses. Ever since, I ask people to tell me before they leave.
In the early days, before I knew better, someone came and ran off and I couldn't find them, eventually they came back and left and when I went around the town they had taken all my perfect fruit, hybrid flowers and gold ores I had outside re-tail. I was dead upset that someone could be so nasty and deleted them so now I am really nervous about adding people.
I know if you are visiting via DS to DS (nearby town) then you can close the gate after your expected visitor/s have arrived - removing the chance of further random walk ins.
- can you do the same if its a visitor via wifi? Would help in some of the cases detailed above.
Once I added a Japanese player on CT (he gave me some Bells which was pretty sweet <3) but when I did a trade with someone else in my town, he just visited my town, ran in and took a Black Tulip. I ended the session because I didn't know about flipping the Wi-Fi switch and I didn't want to redo the trade.
One of my friends that I added on another website wanted me to open my gates so I was like 'sure'. He came into my town and started to cut down a Perfect Orange tree. He took all of them and left the rotten one to me ಠ_ಠ i got even and took a Pink Cosmo when I went to his town
I was waiting for someone to come to my town for a trade, and then originally I thought that that was the trader. Turned out that it was someone that I added on CT. I had to end the session >_>
I was going to do a trade with someone.She told me to come to her town and choose 3 items around her station for the trade.So, I go to her town, and drop the items I was giving her.Then I walked around and looked at her items.Everytime I saw something I wanted, she would say"no, you can't have that".I was feeling very frustrated.After a while, I realized that I was in THE WRONG TOWN.LOL.I felt soooo stupid.Luckily she was very nice and understanding.I'm surprized she didn't flip the wifi on me.
One time I was giving Ankha to someone on another forum site. She said she would pay 15 million for her. She told me how many bad experiences she had with this stuff so she asked if she could get the villager first then pay. I said yes. When she came out she said she was going to go get the money. But she just wrote a bunch of swear words on my board and left. I knew I should've stayed with her...
There was a time where I was celebrating getting a villager so I opened my gates for all to enter and added a bunch of people- I know sounds stupid but my blog was full on drunken hype at that point- so anyways, the first few sets of people were great and we exchanged gifts and even went to the island to play a few games... but after that it was bad. A guy came in and started running and wrecking stuff on the other side of town while I was entertaining the others, he ran through my blue and black rose garden and chopped a bunch of trees down, also stealing the gifts I had gotten from the past guests.
I got even though, I waited tell I saw his gates open after a few hours and returned the favor.
