Has anybody ever actually gotten Snow Tyke gifts?

Thank you, hon! I want them, too, and I am such a hoarder... heh heh... but they ARE cute! I'll just need to get a bigger house for one of my alternate characters, I guess. :D

And yeah...I think the Thonky is not clear enough - I need pics to be sure of what I'm doing.

And WOW your sig is GORGEOUS!

Hahah horray for fellow hoarders! Which snow set do you like the best? :D
My problem is I love ice set way too much, and even my alts' houses are filled with them... I guess I'll need to restrict myself this year, hahah.

And thank you! I commissioned the picture from my favourite AC artist and gosh I'm so in love with it. It'll be a crime not to use it as a signature >.< It's actually a set of three, they're here if you're interested :p http://deenen.tumblr.com/post/90869166439/and-finished-commissioned-illustrations-for-the#notes

I've never gotten it. I always mess up building the snow tyke for some reason. And if I try him first, I mess up on whoever I do last. Snowman building is not my forte.

I always mess up building the snowboy :( I was actually focused on getting the Ice Series from the snowmam though.

I got a snowman shirt with a QR code for fun. It was very simply done but cute. It came in very handy because I realized I could use the markings on the shirt as measurement guides. I stood behind a snowball until I was as close as could be without touching it and then pressed up. I used the buttons on the snowman on the shirt, the scarf, and the division between snowballs etc. as my measurement guides. I would check the markings and then increase or decrease the size of the snowball accordingly. Unfortunately, the cartridge popped out of my 3DS and I lost the game somewhere. So, I lost the QR item (along with everything else in my game). I cannot find the shirt again online either. It had a plain medium blue background in case anyone here might know of it. I think it would also be possible to pick a general ac:nl patterned shirt and work with the markings on it as guidelines. It would also be possible to create your own measurement shirt.

After that, the trickiest part was making deliberately inaccurate snowpeople to get the various gifts snowtyke offers because his gifts depend on how many snow family members are well-made.

I had to experiment quite a bit, but as the season went on I got quite good at making exactly what I wanted. By the end of the winter, I had all the ice and snowboy series. I was a little short on snowman items because I was not lucky at bingo and did not travel much to other villages. I had three of the snowtyke items and got the fourth in a trade.

I was making one room and outdoor type of room for each of my characters. One had a western themed setting with the covered wagon and cactus. One had a ski slope with the snow machine, chair lift, ski rack etc. So, I put the snowpeople items to good use. Sadly, they are all gone with the loss of the previous village, but I will be back making snowpeople all over again this winter.

I did get them all, but it took a while! I found a good reference picture online, and I compared them to the reference photo every time. That was the only way I could even come close to the right dimensions. Doing it before 5pm was a great tip too!

As hard as it was, I found this much easier than City Folk. All I did was roll snowballs off of cliffs and into the river there!

I got them all last winter, and an extra matryoshka, thanks to online guides. I'm hoping to get extra this year as I want more of those cute snow bunnies :).

i was trying to find a chugga video because i know he explains how to build snowmen and it's a video so it could be helpful, buuuut i couldn't find it and gave up.
but this will be my first animal crossing winter! i hope it's not tooo difficult to build snowmen etc D:

Laudine; thank you! (((HUG))) I'll definitely check out your link. And yes, it would absolutely be a crime to not use your pic as a sig! :)

Chiana, your post is awesome. All of it. But the part about the shirt makes my head spin! What a fantastic idea! I never ever would have thought of such a thing. I think I need something like that if I want to be a success this winter. :)

Vizionairi - I'm with you. The Ice Series is just lovely. I bought it from someone and now I have mixed in a few Princess Pieces and a few small statues and have a room I love. That series is awesome. :)

SoSu - I know the feeling about the cliffs... Lol! I didn't know about the time tip before this thread, either. It sounds creepy that the snowpeople can move. It's bad enough that they speak, but move??? *shudders*

FancyThat - you rock! Good luck to you this winter. Well, on the other hand, if you are lucky and gets lots of items you can sell them here (to me, even!) and help those of us out who are Snowpeople-challenged. :D

captain_katie - I wish us both luck. This won't be my first winter, but hopefully it will be my first successful one. :)

GlitterNailPolish - *hugs!* Hopefully we'll both get better at it.

I will do giveaways if I get more :D. As an aside ankhes, if you need my extra matryoshka you're welcome to have it :), it's only taking up space in my museum. For free of course :).

I've gotten all of them. Usually I've more problems getting a Bingo from Snowman. :<

The sizes are relative to your character's height. Once you know where their heights align it becomes much easier with practice.

I got all of the Snowtyke items last year.
To get all 4 of the Snowtyke items you have to:
Build one of each member of the family. Each snowman only lasts for 4 days and then it's gone.
If only the Snowtyke is built correctly, you get the sleigh.
If the Snowtyke and only 1 other member of the family is built correctly, you get the small igloo (wish it looked more like the igloo campers are in during the winter months).
If the Snowtyke and only 2 other members of the family are built correctly, you get the snow bunny.
And to get the snowman matryoshka, all members of the family have to be built correctly.
You can only get 1 item from each Snowtyke you build.
Good Luck.

Wow...now I suddenly think that this will be a lot harder than I thought... Oh, well! I just remembered that I will have to post a sticky to my screen that reminds me to SAVE before building each and every Snowperson.

I'll look into that shirt and the height thing, too. If I can get the hang of that then maybe, just maybe, I can get all 4 SnowTyke prizes. But you are at the mercy of your town on where the heck the stupid snowballs are, so getting the size you want has to be hard. Getting two the biggest size you can is easy, but the rest? Hmm...maybe rolling over something other than snow? I never really thought about it before. Maybe a snowball can be shrunk. I've only ever built big ones and lost ones accidentally over cliffs and into ponds and the river.

I haven't mainly because I never tried too. I only wanted ice stuff so I only built snowmams (and a few snowboys by accident).

Yes you can shrink them down! Just roll them on paths or bald spots and they'll get smaller :)

Woo hoo! This is the first time I'm GLAD that my town is so full of paths and bald spots! Lol! Thanks, hon! (((HUG)))

mags - you are too talented to be real. :D Congrats!

I got all of the Snowtyke gifts.

I saved a lot before making the snow person for the day so I could get them all right. I also used a guide to evaluate how big or small the snowballs had to be before I made the family.

Sometimes your pathways make the snowballs bigger. Think it's when it starts snowing more.
Finding a dirt spot or using the train or event plaza is helpful. Also having room to see.

Sometime it's best just to let the snowball fall off the cliff or hit a tree.
They can be far apart and too much of a pain. Just go into the train station or a building after. Sometime they are close to the 1st snowball.
